New York: Brooklyn-based designer Alexis Bittar presented his Fall Winter 2025 collection at New York Fashion Week, showcasing an artistic blend of 1980s and 1990s aesthetics with futuristic elements. The event was a performance-driven experience reflecting themes of identity and cultural evolution.

Alexis Bittar’s Fall Winter 2025 collection marked a significant moment in retro fashion with his debut at New York Fashion Week, taking place at Performance Space New York. The Brooklyn-based designer, celebrated for his sculptural jewelry and innovative design approach, directed a presentation that was not just a fashion show but a performance-driven experience. This event intricately blended elements from the past—specifically the vibrant aesthetics of the 1980s and 1990s—with a futuristic vision set in the year 2050. Themes of identity, technology, and cultural evolution were core to Bittar’s narrative throughout the showcase.

The collection itself displayed Bittar’s distinctive artistic flair, featuring an array of jewellery and handbags that highlighted bold shapes, intricate metalwork, and the use of unconventional materials. The designs prominently featured textured gold and silver finishes, complemented beautifully by resin and crystal accents. Statement earrings were characterised by their exaggerated proportions while sculptural cuffs and layered necklaces embraced fluid, organic forms. The handbags, in particular, extended this artistic vision through structured silhouettes adorned with metallic details, successfully marrying artistry with practicality.

Attending the event were multiple notable figures including Jessel Taank, Bronwyn Newport, Jackie Aina, Meredith Marks, and Caroline Vazzana, all of whom contributed to the celebratory atmosphere of this fashion milestone.

Bittar’s journey is rooted in a rich history of independent design. Initially a self-taught jeweller, he rose to prominence selling handmade pieces on the streets of Brooklyn, eventually evolving into a globally recognised brand. His creations have adorned celebrities such as Beyoncé, Michelle Obama, and Lady Gaga, and have been featured in prestigious publications, including Vogue, Interview, and Harper’s Bazaar.

After selling his company in 2015 to pursue personal projects, Bittar reclaimed ownership in 2021. He has since relaunching his brand with a renewed focus on direct-to-consumer retail, expanding his product range to include handbags. His boutique locations in New York, San Francisco, and Los Angeles serve as tangible representations of his creative vision. Throughout his career, Bittar’s influence in the accessories industry has been celebrated, receiving accolades such as the CFDA Accessory Designer of the Year in 2010 and the ACE Brand of the Year in 2014 and again in 2024.

The evolution of Bittar’s work illustrates how timeless brands navigate the fast-paced world of fashion, effectively embedding historic moments and retro trends into innovative collections that resonate with contemporary audiences.
