Berlin: The 75th Berlinale International Film Festival saw Timothée Chalamet make headlines with his striking Y2K-inspired fashion as he premiered his new film, “A Complete Unknown”, where he portrays Bob Dylan. His bold outfit choices captivated fans and highlighted current menswear trends.

Timothée Chalamet made a striking impression on the red carpet at the 75th Berlinale International Film Festival in Berlin on 14 February 2025, where he attended the premiere of “A Complete Unknown”, in which he portrays iconic musician Bob Dylan. The film festival, known for its prominent global cinema showcases, saw Chalamet embrace Y2K fashion trends with a distinctly bold look that featured a pastel pink monochromatic ensemble by Chrome Hearts. His outfit consisted of a ribbed tank top, complemented by a hoodie, baggy denim trousers, and notable work boots, with matching underwear subtly visible.

The event unfolded against the backdrop of a chilly European winter, with temperatures hovering around 30 degrees Fahrenheit. Despite the cold, Chalamet opted to forgo his hoodie while posing for photographs, allowing his tank top to take centre stage. Accessories played a key role in completing his outfit, including a diamond choker and a pink watch, further underscoring the significance of pink in the menswear trend that surged in popularity during the early 2000s.

The colour pink, which became a hallmark of menswear at that time largely through the influence of hip-hop artists and celebrities, was notably championed by figures like Cam’ron, who created a memorable moment at New York Fashion Week in October 2002 by wearing a pink fur coat. This particular trend saw brands such as Ralph Lauren, Lacoste, and Sean John integrating the colour into their collections.

Accompanying Chalamet at the premiere was Kylie Jenner, founder of Kylie Cosmetics and his girlfriend of nearly two years. Videos circulating on social media depicted her in a sequined black dress with a plunging neckline, matched by an elegant shawl, as she celebrated the evening alongside the actor.

Before the premiere, Chalamet participated in a press conference for “A Complete Unknown,” where he elaborated on the emotional investment involved in bringing Bob Dylan to life on screen. Speaking about his dedication to the role, Chalamet expressed a profound admiration for Dylan and a commitment to the film, noting that he would be prepared to promote it for a year if required.

For a promotional photo call in Berlin just prior to the festival, Chalamet showcased another facet of his Y2K-inspired fashion, wearing a black and yellow Adidas Columbus Crew soccer jacket, paired with baggy denim pants adorned with a sequined star print, and retro-style sneakers, keeping in line with both contemporary and nostalgic aesthetics.
