London: As vintage hairstyles gain popularity this spring, stylists share tips on perfecting the Dolce Vita bob among other retro looks. This revival combines nostalgia with modern chic, offering versatile styling options for various occasions, from business professionalism to high-fashion statement pieces.

As spring approaches, the fashion world is experiencing a notable revival of retro hairstyles that reflects a blend of nostalgia and contemporary style. Among the trending looks this season are finger waves, Bardot ponies, French twists, and notably, the Dolce Vita bob.

The Dolce Vita bob draws inspiration from the Italian businessmen of the 1960s, presenting a timeless yet powerful aesthetic. Hair stylist Tom Smith explained to Who What Wear that the La Dolce Vita Crop is characterised by its “softly traditional style that exudes strength.” The versatility of this bob makes it suitable for various occasions, whether aiming for a polished business appearance or a chic high-fashion statement by pairing it with bold earrings.

For those interested in adopting this iconic cut, Smith provided tailored advice on styling techniques suitable for different face shapes. He mentioned that individuals seeking to highlight their cheekbones might consider tucking their hair securely behind one or both ears. Conversely, for those with higher foreheads, he suggests softening the look with light face-framing in the fringe area. To create an uplifting appearance, sweeping all the hair back with added volume on top is recommended.

Smith outlined the steps to achieve this stylish look, starting with damp hair. Using a blow dryer, one should dry the hair and ensure it is brushed out without a part. To enhance the appearance further, a flat iron can be employed to add bends and movement to the ends. To maintain the hairstyle’s integrity throughout the day, Smith advises finishing with a strong hairspray.

For individuals who prefer not to use a flat iron, hair rollers provide an alternative styling method. To use this technique, section the hair and roll each piece into a warm roller, securing it with a clip. It is advisable to roll the side pieces diagonally to prevent awkward bends. Once all sections are in place, leaving the rollers for at least half an hour will allow the curls to set. After removal, wrapping each section around a finger and gently brushing through can complete the look effortlessly.

The Grazia NL publication is reporting this resurgence of vintage hairstyles, marking a season where elegance meets practicality, making it an optimal time for individuals to explore these retro-inspired styles.
