Turkey: The newly established Ont Clothing is dedicated to promoting sustainable fashion through eco-friendly materials and designs aimed at cyclists. Founded by industry veteran Aylin Cetinkaya, the brand combines style with functionality while prioritising recycled materials in its collection.
A new brand aimed at promoting sustainable practices in fashion has been launched in Turkey. Ont Clothing was established with a commitment to reducing consumption and utilising eco-friendly materials, integrating this philosophy into everyday life.
The brand caters to both men and women, and its apparel collection is crafted by Aylin Cetinkaya, a veteran in the Turkish denim and retail industry. According to the brand’s design principles, emphasising sustainable and ergonomic choices, each clothing item is created to facilitate ease of movement, particularly for cyclists. Cycling, which is gaining traction in Turkey beyond its traditional association with athletes, is seen as a growing trend with numerous benefits for a broader audience.
Ont Clothing offers a range of stylish denim trousers and jackets, along with ribbed stretch cotton jersey tops, sweatshirts, and accessories. The collections feature reflective details to enhance visibility for cyclists during night rides, aligning with the needs of urban cyclists.
Among the key features of the apparel is its water-resistant capability, designed to safeguard wearers against rain and ensure quick drying. In terms of sustainability, the brand highlights that a minimum of 67% of materials used in the production of its items are recycled or reused, with an ongoing aim to increase this percentage.
The brand name “Ont” is derived from the historical context of cycling’s introduction in the Ottoman Empire. Cycling gained popularity between 1885 and 1890, benefiting from the support of Sultan Abdulhamid II, who encouraged races organised by Levantine communities. The formal establishment of cycling as a sport occurred in 1895, marking a significant moment in Turkey’s sporting history.
Currently, Ont Clothing is available in bicycle stores, on its dedicated website, and at select multibrand and concept stores in Turkey. The brand has ambitions to expand its market reach internationally in the near future.
