Bank & Vogue partners with Coach to launch a limited-edition collection of bags made from repurposed textiles, highlighting a commitment to sustainability in the luxury sector.

Bank & Vogue, the parent company of the vintage clothing chain Beyond Retro, has entered into a collaboration with American luxury fashion house Coach to create a limited-edition collection of bags made from repurposed textiles. This partnership aims to merge luxury fashion with sustainability through the use of pre-loved denim and leather, reflecting a growing trend toward upcycling in the luxury sector.

The collection features an array of bags available on the Coach website and in select stores, priced from £395 to £730. Among the signature pieces is the patchwork ‘Cargo Tote Bag,’ which is characterized as a “spacious and lightweight carry-all crafted from love-worn denim garments.” This tote incorporates Coach’s signature glove-tanned leather and is adorned with cursive Coach script embroidery and an iconic turn-lock closure. Designed for practicality, it features an open interior that can accommodate a 13-inch laptop, two exterior pockets, and a removable webbing strap.

Another notable item is the ‘Tabby Shoulder Bag 26,’ which showcases patchwork quilting that reinterprets the classic Coach ‘Tabby’ design. Additionally, the collection includes the ‘Rogue Patchwork Denim Top-Handle Bag,’ which combines the structured silhouette of Coach’s ‘Rogue’ bag with a unique mélange of repurposed denim.

Steven Bethell, Co-Founder of Beyond Retro and Bank & Vogue, elaborated on the collaboration’s foundations, stating, “The partnership developed out of a mutual commitment to sustainability and circular fashion.” He noted that Bank & Vogue brings extensive experience in sourcing and repurposing post-consumer textiles. This expertise was leveraged by Coach to incorporate sustainable practices within its luxury offerings.

Bethell explained the sourcing process, stating, “The bags are made from post-consumer denim sourced by Bank & Vogue. These denim materials typically come from discarded jeans that aren’t suitable for resale. They’re carefully sorted, cut into components (pattern pieces), and then sent to Coach’s finished goods factory to seamlessly fit into their production processes.” He emphasized that these bags are designed for customers who seek aesthetically pleasing products while also valuing sustainability: “These bags are for everyone who wants a beautiful looking bag with the added bonus of it being circular and kinder to the planet.”

This collaboration between Bank & Vogue and Coach signifies a step forward in the luxury fashion industry’s ongoing exploration of sustainable practices and circular economy initiatives.
