Falguni Nayar, a trailblazer in her own right, founded Nykaa, an online beauty and cosmetics retailer, in 2012 after leaving her position as Managing Director at Kotak Mahindra Capital. With a financial background stemming from her education at Delhi University and over two decades in the financial sector, she invested $2 million of her own savings to establish the brand, which rapidly gained traction in the market. Today, Falguni Nayar is recognized not only as one of India’s wealthiest individuals but also as a prominent self-made woman, with a current net worth estimated at Rs 300 crores (approximately $36 million) as reported by Forbes.

Adwaita Nayar, born to Falguni and Sanjay Nayar, the CEO of KKR India, pursued her education rigorously, beginning with her studies at Dhirubhai Ambani International School in Mumbai. She furthered her academic credentials with a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Mathematics from Yale University, followed by an MBA from Harvard Business School. In 2012, before joining Nykaa, Adwaita worked at Bain & Company in New York as a consultant.

The year 2017 saw Adwaita take a significant step as she launched Nykaa Fashion, diversifying the brand’s offerings to include stylish apparel and accessories. Under her leadership, Nykaa Fashion tapped into various customer segments, introducing several sub-brands such as 20 Dresses and RSVP to cater to distinct fashion needs.
