London: The 2025 BAFTAs reveal a striking preference for black attire among celebrities. High-profile attendees like Molly-Mae and Marisa Abela set the fashion tone with elegant gowns and dramatic blazers, highlighting accessibility in red carpet styling while celebrating cinematic achievements.

The 2025 BAFTAs have commenced, showcasing a notable gathering of celebrities on the red carpet. High-profile figures, including Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, and Demi Moore, made their entrance in impressive attire, capturing the eye of fashion enthusiasts.

Amid the glitz and glamour, one striking trend emerged prominently: a notable preference for black attire. Celebrities such as Molly-Mae, Marisa Abela—best known for her role in Back to Black, and Bridgerton star Hannah Dodd were among the stars adorning the carpet in elegant black gowns.

Molly-Mae, in particular, caught attention with her dramatic choice of fashion. She donned a cropped black blazer from the brand Arakii, complemented by a form-fitting black maxi skirt from Nadine Merabi. While the maxi skirt is currently on sale for £221 and remains available in stock, the blazer has faced high demand, with most sizes selling out. However, alternative dramatic blazers are available on the market, including a tailored ruffle double-breasted blazer from Karen Millen, now offered at a reduced price from £449 to £359.20.

Other celebrities who embraced the monochromatic theme included Celia Imrie from Bridget Jones, as well as Gwendoline Christie, famed for her role in Game of Thrones. The black attire trend is firmly established at this year’s event, signalling its staying power in current fashion.

In addition to Molly-Mae, Marisa Abela wore a stunning diamante-trimmed black maxi dress from Coast, which is priced under £100. This look is positioned as an accessible option for those looking to emulate red carpet style for formal events. For a more refined silhouette, the long-sleeved Hobbs Marissa Dress is available for £159, ideal for black-tie occasions or winter weddings. For a versatile option, a casual black midi dress from Nobody’s Child offers adaptability, allowing it to be styled up or down as the occasion demands.

This year’s BAFTAs red carpet not only celebrates cinematic achievements but also provides a platform for exciting fashion trends and choices among A-list attendees.
