Renowned British designer Alice Temperley marks a quarter-century of her brand with a flagship store launch and a new collection inspired by family history.
Alice Temperley, the renowned British fashion designer, is marking a significant milestone in her career as she celebrates the 25th anniversary of her eponymous brand. In October, she inaugurated her new flagship store located just off Sloane Square in London, coinciding with the launch of her fall 2025 presentation titled “La Victoire.” The event highlighted a sense of optimism and celebration as Temperley reflects on her journey through the fashion industry.
“This is a big year—when you’ve survived this long, and come through a really challenging thing, you’re just like, ‘Oh my god, let’s try to be positive, and celebrate,’” Temperley shared during her presentation, referencing the restructuring challenges her brand faced when she filed for administration in 2021.
The fall 2025 collection draws inspiration from a historical figure in Temperley’s family lineage—Levin August von Bennigsen, who was a notable figure in military history for his fight against Napoleon in 1807. In a modern reinterpretation of military aesthetics, the collection features luxurious embellishments and intricate designs. Noteworthy items include blazers and silk shirts adorned with blinged-up, hand-painted medals, alongside the brand’s recognizable tattoo gowns. Additional pieces like jacquard knits in bold red, blue, and purple hues exude a Napoleonic elegance, while the fringed filigree dresses provide a contemporary take on traditional armor.
Beyond historical influences, Temperley infused personal elements into her collection. She created her own version of toile de Jouy, showcasing imagery of horses, llamas, and donkeys from her farm, as well as a representation of the Somerset hills where she grew up. The design also features a tribute to her son, Fox. These familial connections contribute to what Temperley describes as a unique British identity for her brand, even as it seeks to expand its customer base internationally, reaching markets in the United States and the Middle East.
The fall collection offers a diverse array of styles, appealing to a broad spectrum of consumers. However, Temperley identifies occasion wear as her brand’s steadfast strength as she approaches the milestone anniversary of her label next season. As she prepares for spring 2026, she plans to offer a more curated selection, indicating a strategic refinement in her design approach.
