In a recent interview, actress Ananya Panday discusses her personal style, favorite outfits, and the influence of prominent Indian designers on her fashion journey.

Bollywood actress Ananya Panday has recently shared insights into her personal style and favorite Indian outfits, highlighting her evolving relationship with fashion. In an interview with Vogue, Panday reflected on significant moments in her fashion journey, emphasizing the influence of renowned Indian designers on her sartorial choices.

One of the standout moments for Panday was her appearance in a lehenga, blouse, and cape set designed by renowned designer Rohit Bal during his final fashion show. She described this ensemble as particularly special, noting, “That was special because my mum had spoken so much about Gudda and his clothes from the ’90s and 2000s.” This connection to Bal’s legacy in the fashion industry made the outfit resonate deeply with her personal style.

During a conversation with designer Arpita Mehta, Panday highlighted three outfits that closely reflected her personality. In addition to the Rohit Bal creation, she mentioned a striking red full-sleeved sari designed by Mehta, which she wore to the Ambani family’s Ganpati celebration in 2023. She expressed her fondness for the sari, even jokingly stating, “I even messaged you saying that I wanted to get married in this outfit.” The third ensemble was a shimmering silver sari by Manish Malhotra, which she donned for the IIFA Awards in 2022. “He was the first designer to put me in a sari,” she remarked, illustrating how transformative her experience was while wearing Malhotra’s iconic designs.

Ananya Panday also recently made her international runway debut for designer Rahul Mishra at Paris Couture Week. She shared her initial hesitation about whether to walk the runway or simply attend the show, especially considering that her chosen outfit—an intricately crafted 3D piece—was challenging to navigate. “Once I got to the venue, my nerves kicked in and I practiced for two hours with friendly models,” she disclosed.

Reflecting on her past, Panday admitted to couturier Amit Aggarwal that she was not always interested in fashion. She recalled her early wardrobe choices, stating, “I wore my brother’s oversized clothes, pyjamas, and workout leggings—unlike Shanaya, Suhana, and Rysa, who had a strong sense of style.” Over time, as she gained prominence in the entertainment industry, she began to embrace classic silhouettes and colors, gravitating toward designers such as Arpita Mehta, Manish Malhotra, Rahul Mishra, and Aggarwal, all of whom she feels comfortable working with.

Panday also recognized the role of digital platforms in promoting designers and connecting creators with audiences. “When it comes to collaboration, thank god for Instagram tags and captions,” she quipped, acknowledging how social media has transformed the way designers can showcase their work and how she meshes her public image with those creative beginnings.

Ananya Panday’s reflections reveal a deepening appreciation for fashion as a part of her identity, shaped by a blend of personal connections, artistic vision, and the influence of the fashion industry leaders.
