Arahne d.o.o. and Gemell Technology Ltd join forces to transform the fabric design process through advanced digital tools, aiming to reduce textile waste and improve efficiency.

Arahne d.o.o. and Gemell Technology Ltd have announced a strategic partnership aimed at revolutionizing the fabric development process within the textile industry. This collaboration combines Arahne’s ArahWeave weaving CAD program with Gemell’s FabricViewer, creating a comprehensive digital workflow that allows designers to visualize fabrics in 3D format.

The integration of Gemell’s FabricViewer, a versatile application compatible with Linux, MacOS, and Windows, provides users with the capability to render fabrics down to the filament level. It enables designers to observe their fabric creations on 3D models and edit yarn specifications through a specialized 3D Yarn editor before applying these to the fabric rendering. Additionally, yarn manufacturers can utilize FabricViewer to create simulations of yarn swatches, facilitating a more efficient design process.

ArahWeave, known for its function as a jacquard and dobby fabric design CAD/CAM software, serves professional textile designers and weaving mills. A key feature of ArahWeave is its ability to export technically precise fabrics in repeat to Gemell’s FabricViewer, enabling users to visualize their designs in a three-dimensional context and scrutinize the weave structure. The program also supports the export of fabrics as GLTF or PBR textures, which can be further processed using 3D animation and garment development software.

One of the primary objectives of the Arahne and Gemell collaboration is to contribute to the reduction of textile waste by minimizing unnecessary sampling processes. By employing ArahWeave and FabricViewer during the design phase, the companies aim to significantly lower sampling costs. Designers are no longer required to physically weave samples for design inspection or customer presentations. Instead, they can instantly check fabric designs and weave structures in a 3D environment by exporting their finished fabrics from ArahWeave directly to FabricViewer. A particularly notable feature is the ability to export fabric samples in GLTF format, which allows customers to easily view these digital samples in any web browser without the need for additional software.

Arahne and Gemell are set to showcase ArahWeave and FabricViewer at the upcoming Filo exhibition, taking place in Milan on February 26-27, 2025. This event is anticipated to serve as a platform for demonstrating their innovative solutions and engaging with industry stakeholders.
