Founded by Simone Giacomini, Bazr aims to transform social commerce in Italy with unique creator-driven content and plans for expansion in Europe.
Bazr, the first Italian live social commerce platform, made its debut in February 2023, with entrepreneurial founder Simone Giacomini at the helm. Giacomini, known for his previous success with Stardust—a company involved in social media and advertising that was acquired by the Gedi Group—has once again ventured into the tech space. His latest endeavor has already garnered interest from various investors. The platform recently attracted Valiant, which acquired a minority stake in Bazr, valuing the company at 50 million euros prior to investment. Other notable investors include IPE and Method.
In an interview with Il Giornale, Giacomini expressed that Bazr has exceeded expectations, reporting 170,000 downloads of the app and an increase of approximately 3,500 to 4,000 new users daily. He indicated that the company anticipates further growth, particularly with an ongoing communication campaign across various media and events, including the King’s League.
While currently only operational in Italy, Bazr has plans for expansion. Giacomini indicated that the platform would focus on the Italian market throughout the first half of 2025, with intentions to launch services in France and Spain shortly after the summer.
When questioned about the uniqueness of Bazr in a market with established players like TikTok, Giacomini differentiated his platform by noting that Bazr exclusively features selected creators who can only join by invitation. This approach aims to produce quality content created by professionals trained in sales techniques, which he believes is favorable not just for brands but for creators as well. He pointed out that TikTok’s shop feature retains users on its platform without creating the differentiation that Bazr seeks.
Giacomini further explained that influencers often hesitate to produce branded content on popular platforms due to audience pushback. “Bazr is the solution for them,” he stated, emphasizing the platform’s focus on transparency regarding sales processes.
The functionality of Bazr centers on teaser videos where users can make purchases directly, alongside live broadcasts that allow for interaction between users and creators. Giacomini indicated that purchases would be delivered within 24 to 48 hours. Bazr operates on a commission model, collecting between 36% to 38% of each sale, which is then divided between the platform and the influencer.
Despite its primary focus on shopping, Bazr intends to include entertainment elements as well. Plans are in place for content such as podcasts featuring popular figures like Diletta Leotta, Alessandro Borghese, and Joe Bastianich, allowing users not only to enjoy entertainment but also to purchase related products seamlessly.
