Hosts Doireann Garrihy and Jennifer Zamparelli discuss their experiences, fashion choices, and commitment to sustainability in the final episode of the season.

In a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the glamorous yet demanding world of “Dancing with the Stars,” hosts Doireann Garrihy and Jennifer Zamparelli shared insights about their experiences and preparations leading up to the show’s final episode. The show, which showcases dance performances alongside stunning wardrobes, wrapped its season on a Sunday, marking the end of an intense period for the duo.

Garrihy and Zamparelli, known for their striking style choices, expressed their anticipation for some much-needed rest and relaxation after the show’s conclusion. “We’re looking forward to not having to ‘wear makeup’, ‘get the nails done,’ and make hair appointments ‘religiously’ every two weeks,” Zamparelli noted, highlighting the rigorous beauty routines that the hosts maintained throughout the season.

The stunning outfits worn by the pair, coordinated by stylist Clémentine MacNeice, have not only garnered admiration from viewers but have also raised questions about what happens to these pieces after the show’s conclusion. Contrary to expectations, Garrihy and Zamparelli do not take the dresses home; instead, they return them to MacNeice at the end of each episode, allowing her full control over the wardrobe.

Zamparelli humorously remarked on the sometimes uncomfortable nature of the outfits, mentioning, “Sometimes we’re quite traumatised by the pieces that we don’t actually want the pieces.” She reflected on a particular experience during Dedication Week when she wore a form-fitting white gown from Coast, stating, “Sometimes [we’re] in a piece that we can’t breathe in for eight hours.”

The discussion also touched on the commitment to sustainability within the show’s fashion choices. Zamparelli praised MacNeice for her eco-conscious approach to styling, revealing that the designer focuses on borrowing and renting outfits as much as possible. “Clém’s been very good this year,” said Zamparelli. “We do our best to be as economical and eco-friendly as we can on the show while keeping the style at the standard it should be.” The concept of reworking existing garments is supported by fellow costume designer Loraine Barry, adding another layer of awareness to the fashion choices made on the program.

Zamparelli further complimented MacNeice: “Clém is just a phenomenal stylist. She’s very conscious and she’s very organised. We work very closely with her to make sure we look half decent and keep the carbon footprint as low as we possibly can.” This dedication to style, comfort, and sustainability encapsulates not only the show’s commitment to entertainment but also reflects broader trends within the fashion industry.
