Birgitta Helmersson introduces the Bow Hack, enhancing their popular Zero Waste Cropped Shirt pattern with a stylish new design and environmentally friendly features.
Birgitta Helmersson has introduced a new variation of their highly popular Zero Waste Cropped Shirt sewing pattern, referred to as the Bow Hack. This update aims to enhance the original pattern while maintaining its environmentally friendly appeal.
The Bow Hack showcases a unique design that features a bound neckline and center front edges, which are fastened with delicate ties, adding an elegant touch to the garment. The sleeves are designed with gathered hems and a small split, also secured with matching thin ties, blending functionality with style.
To successfully create this version of the top, sewers will require bias binding strips for both the neckline and the ties. These strips can be purchased by the metre in a lightweight contrast fabric, offering an option for personalization. Alternatively, sewers have the choice to cut their own from the main fabric, but should keep in mind that extra fabric will be necessary for this option.
The Zero Waste Bow Hack is accompanied by a downloadable PDF instruction booklet that provides step-by-step guidance on how to draw the sewing pattern pieces directly onto fabric, negating the need for large paper patterns. The booklet includes small, easy-to-make templates which allow users to customize lengths, design details, and fabric widths precisely to their liking.
Regarding fabric choices, the pattern is best suited for woven linen or cotton with a weight ranging from approximately 150 to 200 grams per square meter, ensuring that the finished product is both comfortable and durable.
It is important to note that to complete the Bow Hack, the original Zero Waste Cropped Shirt Sewing Pattern must be purchased separately. This new variant adds an exciting dimension to Helmersson’s collection, further encouraging creativity while adhering to sustainable practices in sewing.
