William Lundgren and Veronika Kant of Bite Studios transition to Stockholm, unveiling a new clothing collection inspired by northern heritage and a commitment to sustainability.
William Lundgren and Veronika Kant, the creative force behind Bite Studios, have made a significant transition from Gothenberg to the vibrant city of Stockholm, Sweden. This move signifies a shift in their business approach as they aim to deepen their connection with customers and foster a community around their brand. Their latest clothing collection is marked by a quiet confidence that the designers anticipate will resonate with an even broader audience.
The inspiration for this collection appears to be deeply rooted in Lundgren’s northern heritage. Growing up in Västerbotten, a region known for its breathtaking natural landscapes, Lundgren has infused elements from his upbringing into the garments. For instance, the collection features a muted jacquard pattern that evokes the image of lichen-covered rocks native to the area, and an intarsia sweater showcases the surroundings in an expressionist style. Overall, there is a prevailing sensation of freedom and openness that permeates the fall lineup, an effect further enhanced by the lookbook images taken in the studio of photographer Erna Klewall, featuring model Erika Wall. These photographs convey an elegant simplicity reminiscent of Quaker aesthetics.
Bite Studios continues to embrace a minimalistic approach in its designs, now complemented by unexpected touches of romance. The collection features elements such as a satin skirt adorned with lace inserts, moving away from the petal-like ruffles of previous seasons in favor of pleats that resemble tucks. Additionally, kick pleats on skirts and outerwear introduce a dynamic quality to the pieces, while rectangular pattern making adds a sense of sensuous draping. The color palette predominantly consists of black and gray, punctuated by the introduction of rust and a vibrant, almost neon red.
In discussing the brand’s commitment to sustainability, Kant noted that there is only one garment in the collection not made from natural fibers. Bite Studios was established with a focus on environmental responsibility, and Kant expressed, “Even if we don’t speak so much about sustainability, it’s there in everything we do.” This sentiment underscores the brand’s unwavering dedication to its mission despite sustainability not currently being a trending topic. She further emphasized their intent to maintain this ethos in future collections. Dubbed “Landskap” or “landscape,” the current offering aims to contribute positively to the evolving fashion industry, reflecting the designers’ hopes of altering its topography for the better.
