London: The British film industry gathered at the Dunhill & BAFTA Film Makers Dinner to honour fellow actors and unveil the BAFTA Elevate programme. With fashion statements made by Pierce Brosnan, Aidan Turner, and Jessica Brown Findlay, excitement builds for the upcoming EE BAFTA Film Awards.

On Tuesday evening, the British film industry gathered at the Dunhill & BAFTA Film Makers Dinner in London to celebrate BAFTA Elevate alongside notable figures from the acting world. The event marks the commencement of pre-BAFTA celebrations ahead of the upcoming EE BAFTA Film Awards scheduled for Sunday.

Pierce Brosnan, renowned for his portrayal of James Bond, led the glamour alongside fellow stars Aidan Turner and Jessica Brown Findlay. Brosnan, now 71, showcased a contemporary twist on his classic tuxedo look, enhancing his attire with quirky tinted glasses and a striking blue bow tie. His ensemble was a nod to his legacy as Bond, where he first donned a tuxedo three decades ago during his debut in “GoldenEye.”

Aidan Turner, known for his role in the series “Poldark,” made a bold fashion statement with tartan trousers paired with a red velvet jacket, while Jessica Brown Findlay, famed for her performance in “Downton Abbey,” impressed attendees in a stunning strapless pale pink gown that featured a delicate red headband accented with a netted veil.

Jessica’s look was complemented by her equally stylish companion, Ellie Bamber, who opted for a daring shirtless appearance under a chic black suit, drawing attention with her artful styling and confident pose.

The event not only highlighted the star power of British talent but also served as a platform to unveil the 20 documentary and specialist factual trailblazers selected for the BAFTA Elevate programme. This bespoke initiative aims to provide two years of tailored professional development to individuals from minority ethnic, disabled, and low socio-economic backgrounds. A distinguished jury headed by Hilary Rosen, Chair of BAFTA’s Television Committee and Director of Commissioning at UKTV, conducted the selection process, aiming to accelerate the careers of these promising development producers, directors, and producer-directors.

As excitement builds towards the EE BAFTA 2025 Awards, which will take place at the Royal Festival Hall—having moved from the Royal Albert Hall after six years—the ceremony is set to honour excellence in film across 25 competitive categories. This year introduces an exciting new Children’s & Family Film category, the first added in five years, aiming to recognise films that resonate with inter-generational audiences. In addition to this, a revised voting process has been initiated for the Outstanding British Film category.

Noteworthy films achieving significant nominations include “Thriller Conclave,” leading with 12 nominations, and “Emilia Perez” receiving 11, while “The Brutalist” follows closely with nine nominations.

The evening not only celebrated the unique contributions of esteemed actors like Brosnan, Turner, and Brown Findlay but also underscored the ongoing evolution and recognition of talent within the British film industry.
