Founded by Matt Keeler in 2016, Dishin is reshaping the sports fashion industry with its unique designs and commitment to giving back to the hockey community.

Dishin, a Buffalo-based hockey apparel company founded in 2016 by Matt Keeler, has been making waves in the sports fashion industry with its unique designs and collaborations with notable organizations. The company specializes in a range of products, including hats and sweatshirts, that reflect both creativity and a passion for hockey.

Keeler conceived the idea for Dishin while studying at St. John Fisher University in Pittsford, where he aimed to blend his interests in hockey, fashion, art, and music. He began designing his apparel by sketching ideas and gradually transitioned those ideas onto clothing. Supported by friends and family, Keeler launched Dishin as a testament to his dedication to the sport and the artistic expression he wanted to bring to it.

During an interview at the company’s downtown Buffalo headquarters, Keeler remarked, “This is who I am to have fire in my heart to bring creativity to hockey.” His commitment to the sport is also reflected in the company’s name, which he describes as derived from a term used in hockey that means to give. “To dish is to give… We always want to be able to give back to the game… to be part of the Buffalo community,” Keeler explained.

Dishin has experienced significant growth since its inception, partnering with well-known brands like New Era and collaborating with NHL teams such as the Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks. Keeler emphasized the importance of relationships in business, stating, “I think everything in business always comes back to reputation.”

As Dishin continues to expand, they are preparing for an exciting fall release that includes new apparel and nine additional headwear products. “More to come with New Era,” Keeler noted, expressing his enthusiasm for future endeavors with the brand.

In addition to collaborations, Dishin has garnered support from athletes, including Buffalo Bills lineman Dion Dawkins and NHL players Tage Thompson and Rasmus Dahlin, further solidifying its presence in the sports community.

When asked what advice he would give to aspiring entrepreneurs in the apparel industry, Keeler emphasized the need for passion. He said, “You got to wake up every day, and want to do it… once you find that you got to let it kill you, and go after it as hard as you can.”

As the company looks ahead, the ambition to innovate and give back to the sport remains at the forefront of Dishin’s mission, continuing to inspire both fans and athletes alike.
