British luxury fashion brand Burberry showcases its Winter 2025 collection with a unique campaign featuring its knight mascot navigating London’s landmarks through innovative animation.
British luxury fashion brand Burberry has unveiled an innovative campaign for its Winter 2025 collection during London Fashion Week. This campaign features the brand’s iconic mascot, the knight, brought to life in a series of visually striking spots that showcase a narrative journey through the city’s renowned landmarks.
The campaign consists of four distinct films that depict the Burberry knight navigating various locations in London, including the notable Tower Bridge and culminating at the Tate Britain. At the Tate, the knight is depicted taking a seat at Burberry’s runway show, further tying the brand’s heritage into the contemporary fashion scene.
The animation for the campaign was crafted by London-based production studio Blinkink under the direction of Daniel Quirke. The films employed a unique technique involving 120 cross-stitched frames that were animated directly in-camera. Quirke expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “Taking Burberry’s iconic logo and telling a London-centric, Burberry story on a piece of real material, in Burberry blue, felt like a perfect opportunity to lean into the craft of animation.”
He elaborated on the collaborative spirit behind the project, mentioning how the team at Burberry was engaged and open to exploring the cross-stitch aesthetic, inspired by Old English Tapestries. Quirke noted, “I loved how much they wanted to lean into the cross-stitch style. We were looking at Old English Tapestries and trying to balance keeping the design of the knight and London skyline recognizable, but still in keeping with the handcrafted style. I love how the films combine the old with the new, and really carry Burberry’s London heritage and love of craft.”
The campaign was developed in partnership with the London Embroidery Studio, with creative direction provided by David Lane of Lane & Associates. The effort integrates traditional craftsmanship with modern animation techniques, highlighting Burberry’s dedication to both heritage and innovative storytelling in its marketing initiatives.
