Paris: Renowned Greek handbag brand Callista expands into the international market with a new store in Saint-Germain-des-Prés, strategically positioned between luxury houses. Known for artisanal craftsmanship and unique designs, the brand integrates Greek cultural heritage into its offerings, marking a significant milestone since its 2013 inception.

Callista, the renowned Greek handbag brand, has opened its first store outside of Greece, located at 79 rue des Saints-Pères in the prestigious Saint-Germain-des-Prés district of Paris. This milestone marks a significant expansion for the brand, which was founded in 2013 by Eleni and Celia, both graduates from esteemed universities. The opening of the Paris store places Callista strategically between luxury fashion houses Prada and Saint-Laurent.

Known for its distinctive braided leather cord and artisanal craftmanship, Callista produces each bag in Kifisia, a suburb north of Athens. The brand employs a small team of artisans who handcraft each piece from high-quality Italian leather, ensuring that no detail is overlooked. A hallmark of Callista’s design is the handle adorned with a leather cord, which is tied by hand using a patented technique that highlights the brand’s commitment to craftsmanship and quality.

Eleni, one of the co-founders, represents the creative vision behind Callista, emphasising an innovative and inclusive approach to design. In contrast, Celia focuses on strategic direction, guiding the brand’s growth in both local and international markets. Since its inception, Callista has gained recognition within luxury boutiques in Greece and has expanded its reach through collaborations with notable retailers, including Bloomingdale’s.

Callista’s handbags are designed to go beyond mere accessories; they embody elements of Greece’s rich cultural heritage, showcasing modern designs that draw heavily from traditional Greek artisanal techniques. The brand’s offerings stand out for their vibrant colours, bold shapes, and the narratives that accompany each piece, making them not just fashionable items but also cultural statements.

As Callista ventures into the bustling Parisian fashion scene, it remains committed to the principles that have guided its success thus far, with each creation reflecting a unique story rooted in Greek tradition.
