The innovative footwear brand CamperLab unveils its new store in the Marais district of Paris, marking a milestone for designer Achilles Ion Gabriel.

CamperLab, the innovative footwear and fashion brand, recently unveiled its new store in the Marais district of Paris, attracting attention during Paris Fashion Week. The opening event occurred on a Monday and marked a significant milestone for Achilles Ion Gabriel, the Finnish designer who has been at the helm of CamperLab since 2019 and has led the entire Camper brand since 2020.

Ion Gabriel expressed a personal connection to the location on Rue Debelleyme, recalling that his first office in Paris was just a short distance from the new boutique. “The location is super special for me,” he commented during the preview event ahead of the launch.

The new store emerges from the former Camper space, redesigned by Harry Nuriev, the creative lead of Crosby Studios. Nuriev’s vision incorporated a modern aesthetic characterized by sleek, raw elements paired with unique industrial touches. The store’s design highlights broken concrete walls that artfully frame the product displays. “Harry knows that I love not perfect things, so that’s why we have broken walls,” Ion Gabriel elaborated. He aimed for a subtle presentation of the products, stating, “I wanted to have the product on display, but I didn’t want it to scream. I wanted it to be a little hidden.”

The collection showcased at the new location emphasizes CamperLab’s commitment to experimental and genderless footwear, as well as a burgeoning ready-to-wear initiative. The spring 2025 collection includes a diverse array of styles, from futuristic sneakers featuring textured panels and breathable mesh designs to loafers and sandals influenced by traditional wooden clogs. Ion Gabriel noted, “I like to morph a lot of different things. It doesn’t have to be so literal,” reflecting his innovative approach to design.

In conjunction with the store launch, CamperLab also introduced a stand-alone website developed in collaboration with Giga Design Studio, further enhancing its digital presence.

Looking ahead, Ion Gabriel is preparing for a comprehensive presentation during the upcoming Paris Fashion Week in June, where he plans to unveil additional concepts for the expanding ready-to-wear line. This event marks not only the opening of a new retail space but also a concerted effort from CamperLab to evolve and diversify its offerings in the competitive fashion landscape.
