Charlotte Simone has become a go-to brand for winter outerwear, drawing in A-list celebrities and fashion lovers with its stylish designs and unique personal story behind its creation.
Charlotte Simone has emerged as a premier destination for winter outerwear, captivating fashion enthusiasts and A-list celebrities alike. Among its most sought-after items is the Penny Lane coat, which has garnered attention with numerous high-profile individuals, including Emily Ratajkowski and Taylor Swift, seen sporting the brand’s distinctive designs this season.
Founded by designer Charlotte Beecham, the brand has gained notoriety not just for its stylish offerings but also for the personal story behind its inception. A devoted fan of Taylor Swift, Beecham experienced a moment of exhilaration when Swift was photographed in her cherry-red Lulu coat during the Chiefs vs. Texans football game last December, an event that quickly went viral across social media platforms.
Charlotte Beecham attributes her creative vision and ambition to her experiences while studying at New York University and her time spent immersing herself in the vibrant fashion scene of Manhattan. Initially, she began her journey in fashion by designing scarves. However, after struggling to find the perfect coat to complement her everyday attire of T-shirts and jeans, she pivoted her focus. “I was really set on trying to design and produce a coat that felt like a statement, something that you could throw on every day and it would instantly elevate your everyday basics,” Beecham shared with Glamour UK.
The brand’s aesthetic is heavily influenced by ’70s design elements, featuring shaggy cuffs and a vintage allure that quickly captured a loyal customer base. However, the COVID-19 pandemic posed significant challenges for Charlotte Simone, particularly as her wholesale partners encountered financial difficulties. This prompted Beecham to adapt her business model, shifting to a limited release strategy where new collections are made available biannually in small quantities. While initially apprehensive about this change, the decision has proved to be beneficial. The scarcity of her coats has significantly boosted Charlotte Simone’s popularity, while also granting the designer greater control over her creative process and production timeline.
On March 26, Charlotte Simone will host a unique sale event, offering access to a selection of 150 styles from her archive for one week only. This event promises to feature both one-of-a-kind pieces and classic designs, with sizes ranging from XS to XXL and prices from £50 to £500. Anticipated highlights include a tiger print coat, a sherbert-yellow shearling coat, and the signature Birdie coat, which was recently worn by Charli XCX. This exclusive opportunity allows fashion aficionados to explore Charlotte Beecham’s extensive collection and potentially acquire unique pieces from her celebrated repertoire.
