At London Fashion Week, designer Chet Lo collaborated with hairstylist Anna Cofone to revive the crimping hairstyle, blending early 2000s aesthetics with modern fashion.

At the recent London Fashion Week, designer Chet Lo reintroduced the crimping hairstyle, a signature of early 2000s fashion, which diverged from contemporary hyper-natural hair trends. Known for his audacious use of textures, Lo collaborated with celebrity hairstylist Anna Cofone and hair brand Authentic Beauty Concept to craft a nostalgic aesthetic for his autumn/winter 2025 collection.

Cofone, who was instrumental in bringing this Y2K look to life, merged pin-straight hair with uniform crimps, establishing a classic representation of the early 2000s style. “The inspiration for today’s look is very much a continuation of patterns and panels,” Cofone stated, emphasizing the synergy between her hairstyling technique and the intricate designs in Lo’s garments. The crimped panels were creatively integrated both at the back and sides of the models’ hair, echoing the designs on the runway.

To achieve a polished finish, Cofone utilized various products from Authentic Beauty Concept, including hair balms and glow serums. This approach aimed to ensure the hair appeared shiny and slick, effectively minimizing flyaways to maintain that signature Y2K glossiness.

Cofone also pointed out the hairstyle’s dual homage to both the early 2000s and the 1980s hair trends seen in this season’s shows. “I think it’s great that it’s got this reference to the Eighties,” she remarked. “Do I think [crimping] is going to come back? I think people can definitely play with crimps and see what shape they get – for sure.”

The revival of crimped hairstyles, alongside other Y2K-inspired fashion elements like low-rise skirts and asymmetric tops, tapped into a growing enthusiasm for early 2000s styles, resonating particularly well with Gen Z attendees at the event. This convergence of past and present aesthetics at London Fashion Week marks a significant moment in the ongoing cycle of fashion nostalgia.
