On March 20, local residents can participate in Discard Day, aimed at promoting responsible waste disposal and sustainable practices.

On March 20, the local administration will host a community-driven environmental initiative titled “Discard Day,” aimed at promoting proper disposal and recycling of waste. Taking place from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., the event will be held at two designated collection centers located in Principal Park and La Judea.

The initiative encourages residents to bring large items they consider non-disposable, providing an opportunity to exchange second-hand items that are still in good condition at a swap market. This aspect of the event is designed to promote the concept of a circular economy within the community.

According to a statement from the local mayor’s office, “The ‘Discard Day’ is an environmental initiative aimed at protecting our natural resources and preventing pollution from inorganic waste in the rivers and streams of the area.” The program is structured to manage the disposal of various items sustainably, including appliances, mattresses, tires, batteries, furniture, cooking oil, light bulbs, and other clean recyclable materials.

Officials emphasize that this initiative is not only about cleaning up the community but also about fostering environmental conservation and encouraging responsible disposal practices. They highlighted that “It is a space for the community to appropriately dispose of their unused items, contributing to the cleaning of critical areas and environmental conservation.”

The “Discard Day” is positioned as a significant event that aligns with ongoing local efforts to reduce pollution and promote sustainable practices among residents.
