The new COS store in Cheongdam, South Korea hosts an artistic event exploring the intersection of fashion, art, and music through a collaboration with musician Zion.T and visual artist 275c.

On a crisp Wednesday evening in Cheongdam, South Korea, the recently renovated top floor of COS’ new store transformed into an artistic haven, showcasing the intersection between fashion, art, and music. The four-storey space, spanning over 1,000 square meters, features a carefully curated collection of men’s and women’s ready-to-wear pieces, infused with sustainability through its design and materials. Visitors stepping inside are greeted by warm lighting and artistic details, including furniture by local designer Subin Seol, terrazzo floor tiles made from 90 percent recycled materials, and bespoke seating crafted from upcycled materials.

This event marks a collaboration between South Korean musician Zion.T and visual artist 275c, who have come together to create an immersive art experience running for one month. The initiative seeks to explore modern creativity and the personal narratives that shape their artistic endeavors.

Zion.T, recognized for his collaborations with notable pop artists such as Psy and his recent establishment of a music collective called Standard Friends, articulated his views on the relationship between fashion and art. “Of course. Fashion is definitely a form of art. We all wear clothes every day, and they are an essential part of how we express ourselves. It’s a daily form of art that everyone can engage with,” he stated in an interview.

275c echoed this sentiment, noting that from a visual artist’s perspective, fashion involves intricate design and pattern-making, elevating it as a complex form of art. This shared belief underlies their collaborative work, which aims to question contemporary creativity and the nature of personal expression.

Zion.T provided insight into his journey as a musician, emphasizing gratitude for his experiences that shaped his understanding of music. “I’ve been thinking about what my role is and where to take it within my limited environment and capabilities… I think all of these opportunities mean so much to me,” he reflected.

The musician’s new venture, Standard Friends, an effort to create a more sustainable business system for artists and their teams, stems from a desire to effect gradual change in the music industry. “It all started with the thought ‘to make something better’… I hope that this becomes a platform for more musicians to grow through the industry in a way that’s sustainable,” Zion.T expressed, emphasizing the importance of providing options for consumers and enriching the music experiences for younger audiences.

Both artists’ involvement in the COS exhibition highlights their respective relationships with the brand. Zion.T shared his longstanding admiration for COS, expressing excitement over the opportunity to collaborate. Meanwhile, 275c noted the importance of supporting local artists, stating, “Above all, I think it gives local artists the motivation and opportunity to express themselves through a new lens. It’s exciting to have brand and artist collaborate and be able to bring forth each other’s stories in a novel way.”

As the immersive art experience unfolds, it aims to deepen the dialogue concerning the overlap between fashion, art, and individual storytelling, showcasing the dynamic landscape of South Korean creativity.
