A vibrant pop-up event by Dairy Boy and ONDO Bakery draws students and community members, celebrating local culture and fashion.
A bustling pop-up event held on Thursday saw an enthusiastic turnout of students and community members, wrapping around the corner of State and East William streets in Ann Arbor. The event was hosted by Dairy Boy, a clothing and lifestyle brand, in collaboration with ONDO Bakery. Participants had the opportunity to purchase specialty maize and blue merchandise, as well as enjoy three featured drinks and baked goods offered by the local bakery.
Dairy Boy, which was founded by Paige Lorenze in 2021, is known for its New England aesthetic and focuses on everyday clothing and home decor. Beyond her role as a brand founder, Lorenze is also recognized as a social media influencer and is scheduled to speak at the upcoming Michigan Fashion Media Summit, a significant event within the campus fashion community.
In an interview with The Michigan Daily, Chief Brand Officer Rachel Liebenthal articulated the brand’s mission to foster a sense of community through its offerings. “It’s been really bringing this effortless, beautiful feeling and lifestyle and energy to our audience, making sure that everybody feels included,” Liebenthal said. She emphasized the brand’s commitment to accessibility and its appeal to fans of both Dairy Boy and Lorenze, citing the positive resonance within their target audience.
Looking ahead, Dairy Boy plans to introduce a university-inspired clothing line, with the University of Michigan being its inaugural partner. Liebenthal noted the intention to broaden their appeal to students beyond their usual major city pop-up locations, stating, “The audience in Ann Arbor and the University of Michigan student is so spirited, so community driven and really aligns with our company ethos so it felt like a perfect fit.”
Attendees expressed their appreciation for the event’s atmosphere. LSA freshman Gabby Miller remarked on the aesthetic appeal of ONDO Bakery, highlighting the floral decorations and vibrant ambiance. “It’s honestly just really cute, really aesthetic, I love all the flowers in here,” Miller stated. “It’s just really bright. It’s kind of been a cloudy, rainy day, so this was just a nice little fun pick-me-up.”
LSA sophomore Addy Vemulapalli echoed this sentiment, expressing excitement about the opportunity to experience an event of this nature in Ann Arbor, a smaller town often overshadowed by larger cities like Los Angeles and New York. “I feel like it’s nice that we have more opportunities, things that you normally only see in L.A. or New York,” Vemulapalli said. “It’s fun to see them in a small little town like Ann Arbor that’s home to us.”
The event not only showcased Dairy Boy’s latest offerings but also emphasized the brand’s dedication to cultivating local community connections through its merchandise and collaborative events.
