The company focuses on creating sarimbit sets, offering attire for both men and women, thus expanding its market reach.
In addition to its traditional techniques, Dama Kara distinguishes itself by empowering artisans in Pekalongan and collaborating with a foundation that supports individuals with disabilities. This initiative enables disabled artisans, who possess valuable skills, to contribute to the creative process through a profit-sharing system. Rima Insania expressed enthusiasm about this collaboration, stating, “We are happy to empower disabled friends who have the ability to create artworks.”
Dama Kara features two main clothing collections: one showcasing batik borders and another highlighting designs created by disabled artisans. One of the artisans involved is Salma, who specializes in jelujur stitching. Rima explained that the designs crafted by disabled individuals are mass-produced by Dama Kara, ensuring a sustainable business model that benefits both artisan creators and the brand.
In addition to involving disabled artisans, Dama Kara also engages local women seamstresses from the regions of Soreang and Cileunyi. Rima mentioned the inclusion of two villages from each area in their production process, noting, “We are grateful to empower mothers as well. We also feel pleased that our business has the support of Bank BRI, which provides numerous opportunities to participate in exhibitions for promotion.”
Customers have responded positively to Dama Kara’s offerings. Griya Astrilia, a 36-year-old buyer from Bandung, commented on the uniqueness of the products, stating that the fabric is comfortable, and the designs are contemporary and versatile for various events. She remarked, “This batik is very modern and can be worn every day.”
In terms of pricing, Griya found it reasonable due to the exceptional materials and designs that set Dama Kara apart from other products, enhancing her confidence by ensuring she would not encounter others wearing the same clothing.
