De Bondt collaborates with CELYS to create KINDSOME, a new baby yarn made from Merino wool and compostable polyester, set to launch in May 2025.

De Bondt, a leading name in high-quality knitting yarns, has announced a partnership with CELYS, an innovator in sustainable textile solutions, to launch a new baby yarn called KINDSOME. This collaboration is expected to set new standards in the knitting industry when KINDSOME becomes globally available in May 2025. The yarn is notable for its composition, featuring 60% premium Merino wool and 40% CELYS compostable polyester, which aligns with growing consumer interest in sustainable products.

KINDSOME is designed specifically for children’s clothing and will be offered in a vibrant palette of 24 colors alongside curated knitting patterns. This launch aims to provide both inspiration and eco-friendly choices for parents and crafters, merging quality craftsmanship with a commitment to the environment.

This initiative underscores De Bondt’s longstanding dedication to innovation in knitting yarns. The integration of CELYS’ compostable polyester into KINDSOME not only enhances the yarn’s quality but also addresses concerns related to microplastic pollution, a growing issue in the textile industry. CELYS’ technology is recognized for its durable and high-performance options that comply with the increasing global demand for eco-conscious materials.

Eric Yip, COO of CELYS, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “We are thrilled to collaborate with De Bondt to introduce KINDSOME, a yarn that embodies the future of sustainable crafting. By integrating CELYS compostable polyester with premium Merino wool, we provide knitters with a conscious choice—one that supports both quality craftsmanship and a healthier planet.”

Job DeBondt, the General Manager of De Bondt, emphasized the importance of the partnership in pushing the boundaries of innovation in the industry. “KINDSOME is a testament to our commitment to delivering superior products while embracing sustainability,” he remarked.

With the launch set for May 2025, interests are building as KINDSOME prepares to enter the market via De Bondt’s global distribution network, promising both luxury and eco-friendliness to knitting enthusiasts around the world. The introduction of this yarn highlights a noteworthy trend in the crafting community, where sustainability is becoming increasingly valued alongside quality and performance.
