Designer Derek Chan highlights Hong Kong fashion talents with his Fall/Winter 2025 collection, merging nostalgia and modern elegance at Paris Fashion Week.

Designer Derek Chan showcased his label DEMO’s Fall/Winter 2025 collection during Paris Fashion Week, with a special emphasis on promoting Hong Kong fashion talents through Fashion Farm Foundation. The presentation, held at a venue styled to evoke a traditional Hong Kong bus stop, sought to merge a sense of nostalgia with contemporary elegance, reflecting the vibrant fashion scenes of Hong Kong during the 1980s and 1990s.

This collection features a variety of textures and materials, highlighting classic striped and checked red fabrics, as well as DEMO’s signature tweed. Various denim treatments are incorporated into the designs, showcasing distinctive washes and frayed embellishments that add depth to the pieces. Accented by striking designs, flower patterns, and studded decorations, the collection presents a modern interpretation of historical influences.

Outerwear plays a prominent role in this collection, with long coats, trench coats, and denim jackets serving as essential elements that contribute to both sophistication and diversity. Chan’s creative vision aims to bridge the gap between traditional Hong Kong fashion sensibilities and a modern aesthetic, providing a fresh perspective on the region’s rich sartorial history.

The presentation has drawn attention not only for its artistic direction but also for its role in celebrating and elevating Hong Kong’s fashion scene on a global platform.
