Eurospar announces Dublin as the host city for the Junk Kouture final on March 4, 2025, celebrating 15 years of creativity and sustainability with a two-day festival.
Eurospar has announced that Dublin will host the Junk Kouture final on March 4, 2025, as the event marks its 15th anniversary. The Junk Kouture Festival of Creativity and Circularity will take place over two days, starting on March 3, where schools from around the globe will finalize their innovative designs focused on sustainability. This festival serves as a platform for young people aged 12-19 to showcase their creative talents while emphasizing the importance of using recycled materials.
The culmination of this celebration will occur in the Helix at Dublin City University, where 60 finalist teams from countries including Ireland, the UK, France, Italy, the US, and the UAE will compete for the title of World Designer of the Year. The finalists’ works will be entirely constructed from recycled materials, illustrating the principles of circular fashion.
The Junk Kouture initiative has gained international recognition, having hosted its inaugural world final in Abu Dhabi and a subsequent event in Monaco. Dublin’s selection as the host city for the third World Final reinforces its central role in promoting youth creativity and sustainable practices on a global scale.
In line with the event, Junk Kouture will also hold “The Lab” on March 3. This workshop is designed for students and will focus on developing a growth mindset in the context of circular entrepreneurship. It will feature guest speakers and alumni from previous Junk Kouture events, offering insights and guidance to the next generation of designers.
An expert panel of judges will determine this year’s winner. The panel includes Maya Penn, an American eco-designer and climate activist; Sally Taylor, buying director of Primark; French sustainable fashion advocate Lisa Perron; and Stephen McLaughlin, founder of SML London.
Eurospar, which has sponsored Junk Kouture for the past two years, will continue its partnership as a headline sponsor for 2025. The retailer has initiated a program called Classroom Kouture, collaborating with local primary schools to foster creativity around sustainability, a project that is set to further develop in 2025.
Claire O’Brien, marketing manager of Eurospar, expressed enthusiasm about sponsoring Junk Kouture for a third consecutive year. “Through our commitment to Responsible Retailing, every Eurospar retailer is passionate about supporting their local community,” she stated, emphasizing that the sponsorship aligns with Eurospar’s mission.
Troy Armour, CEO of Junk Kouture, expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from Eurospar and their network of 52 locally owned supermarkets in Ireland. “We are delighted to have such a well-known and trusted brand like Eurospar on board for a third year at Junk Kouture,” he said.
Tickets for the event are available, starting at €40, through the Helix’s official website.
