Eastman Naia strengthens its commitment to sustainable textiles with new collaborations and innovative fiber solutions in the industry.

Eastman Naia, a prominent global manufacturer of sustainable cellulose-based fibers, continues to expand its portfolio of innovative products and collaborations in the textile industry. In recent announcements, the company unveiled new partnerships employing its Naia Renew fiber, a sustainable material crafted from a blend of 60% responsibly sourced wood pulp and 40% recycled waste material. This unique fiber is produced through a GRS-certified mass balance process that emphasizes low-impact, closed-loop manufacturing methods.

Naia cellulosic acetate is recognized for its distinctive silky appearance and reliability as a filament fiber. It is versatile, available in both woven and knitted fabrics, and can be blended seamlessly with premium materials such as wool, cashmere, and linen to produce lightweight and breathable textiles. The characteristics of Naia Renew staple include durability, rapid drying capabilities, and a skin-friendly softness, ensuring a comfortable experience for the wearer. Additionally, its low density offers a refined, pearl-like luster without adding weight to the garments.

Among Eastman Naia’s noteworthy collaborations is its partnership with Riopele, a prominent textile manufacturer based in Portugal. This collaboration aims to promote sustainable fabric solutions utilizing Naia Renew fiber. In a similar vein, Naia has joined forces with Pakipek, a Turkish textile manufacturer, to further its commitment to responsible textile production.

Another significant alliance has been established with Aquitex, a Portuguese chemical specialist that focuses on developing natural dyes derived from minerals, plants, and fruits. This partnership is intended to provide fabric and garment manufacturers with access to more eco-friendly materials, characterized by enduring color and high-quality textiles.

Aquitex, which has made significant strides in the sustainable chemicals sector, is affiliated with various responsible initiatives, including ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 certifications. The company is also a ZDHC certified entity, a Bluesign system partner, and one of the pioneering signatories of the UN Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action. Moreover, Aquitex is actively involved in the Cecolab, a collaborative lab focused on advancing circular economies within the textile industry.

Through these strategic partnerships and innovations, Eastman Naia continues to position itself at the forefront of sustainable practices in the fashion and textile industries, responding to the growing demand for environmentally responsible material solutions.
