Actress Elizabeth Olsen captivated audiences with her vintage-inspired outfit as she discussed her upcoming film ‘The Assessment’ on the Today show.
Elizabeth Olsen showcased a vintage-inspired look during her appearance on the “Today” show in New York City on March 25. The actress, known for her dynamic roles in film, was interviewed by host Jenna Bush Hager and guest cohost Barbara Bush about her upcoming film “The Assessment,” which features actors Himesh Patel and Oscar-winning Alicia Vikander.
For the occasion, Olsen wore a cream tweed minidress from Patou’s fall 2025 ready-to-wear collection. The dress was distinguished by its three-quarter-length sleeves and an exaggerated high neckline. It also featured rounded shoulders and a unique lining that ran down the bodice and skirt, contributing to its vintage aesthetic.
The actress complemented her ensemble with sheer tights from Commando and chocolate brown pointed-toe heels designed by Gianvito Rossi. Olsen chose to keep her accessories minimal to allow her attire to take center stage during the daytime interview.
Her stylist, Elizabeth Stewart, well-known for her collaborations with other prominent figures in Hollywood such as Cate Blanchett and Julia Roberts, curated Olsen’s look. Hairstylist Jacob Rozenberg styled her hair with fringe to frame her face, while a section was pulled back. Makeup artist Gita Bass accentuated Olsen’s features with soft brows, pink eyeshadow, and a subtle lip.
The Patou dress made its debut on the runway in January 2025 at Paris Fashion Week. Guillaume Henry, the brand’s artistic director since September 2018, spoke about the collection’s vision, stating, “I just wanted visual effects without a story,” as quoted in a review by Lily Templeton from WWD. He elaborated on the collection’s inspiration, describing it as rooted in “the allure of French cinema characters,” with images from films spanning the 1960s to the late ‘70s serving as key references.
The overall collection included a variety of designs suitable for today’s women, such as cropped jackets with patent bands, mini shift dresses, flirty lace dresses cinched with wide belts, and debonair trousers. Additionally, new bag styles were introduced, some designed for easy carrying, even allowing for a holster-style wear.
Olsen’s performance in “The Assessment” is poised for release in theaters on April 3. The film, set in a speculative future, explores the journey of a couple undergoing evaluation for their suitability as parents over a week-long period.
