The latest Etro collection showcases bold furs and intricate patterns, reflecting a sophisticated evolution under creative director Marco De Vincenzo.

The fashion world witnessed a compelling showcase at the Etro runway during the latest season, where furs emerged as a prominent trend. The collection opened with a striking presentation featuring a shaggy wool fur coat, characterized by bold black and white stripes. The coat was paired with slouchy Paisley-printed trousers and a knitted waistcoat, aiming to convey a blend of impact and ease, setting a tone for the entire collection.

Creative director Marco De Vincenzo commissioned a captivating set from Numero Cromatico, which featured a sweeping curtain adorned with a primitive and fantastical bestiary. De Vincenzo described the backdrop as appearing “as if born out of primordial matter,” emphasizing the collection’s focus on the tactile qualities of fabrics and textures. While the silhouettes retained a sleek and uncomplicated nature, the fabrics showcased were lush, thick, and treated with glossy or rubberized finishes, contributing to a sophisticated atmosphere.

In his remarks, De Vincenzo highlighted the richness of Etro’s heritage, stating, “Etro’s heritage is so rich that it feels like a constantly self-renewing force.” This renewal comes from the designer’s ability to reinterpret patterns and motifs from a vast archive while incorporating entirely new designs. Collaborating with Korean artist Maria Jeon, Etro debuted a series of embroideries inspired by fantastical zoology within the collection. Additionally, botanical prints were magnified and abstracted, overprinted onto ribbed wool for fluid dresses featuring asymmetrical handkerchief hems, as well as onto airy organza tunics and flowing, elongated dusters reminiscent of the 1970s.

Departing from the more exuberant styles seen in previous collections, this season’s presentation embraced a quieter, more restrained approach while still honoring Etro’s signature flair for intricate prints. The collection reflects a thoughtful balance between artful design and everyday wearability, showcasing the evolution of the brand under De Vincenzo’s creative vision.
