In a recent interview, actress Eva Longoria opens up about her style evolution, family influences, and favorite beauty tools, highlighting the balance between high-fashion and everyday comfort.
Eva Longoria, the renowned 49-year-old actress, recently spoke candidly about her fashion journey and beauty routine in an interview with The Times. Known for her timeless style, Longoria shared insights on her school run attire, fashion regrets, and the beauty tools she holds in high regard.
Reflecting on her early experiences with red carpet fashion, Longoria recounted a specific incident from the 2005 Cannes Film Festival, which she describes as a significant moment in her style evolution. “The first time I went to the Cannes Film Festival sticks out,” she said. “I went to Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles and bought a $39 [£31] dress because I was told I needed a dress. It looked amazing and people were like, ‘Who are you wearing?’ I thought, why are they asking me that?” This gold knit dress garnered attention, but it also prompted her realization of the weight of red carpet appearances, with representatives from L’Oréal suggesting she might need styling assistance in the future.
Longoria emphasized learning from that experience, advising those in their forties to invest in classic over trendy pieces. She stated, “I think less trendy, more classic and more investment pieces that will last longer, like a really great Saint Laurent blazer. It will set you back but you’ll have it forever. You can justify that expense over the years of wear you’ll get out of it.”
When discussing her fashion influences, Longoria acknowledged her family as pivotal role models, particularly admiring her aunt’s glamorous style. “I never had to look far for an example of what a woman should be. My aunt was well-traveled and always wore a scarf and perfume. She was – and is – so glamorous,” she shared. In terms of modern style icons, she looks up to Victoria Beckham, expressing admiration with a touch of humor: “[Victoria Beckham] is my style icon. I aspire to be like her one day, and I never will.”
As for her wardrobe, Longoria admitted to an extensive collection of white sneakers, which her husband José Bastón finds excessive. “But I need them. I can’t say out loud how many I have,” she quipped.
On the subject of beauty, Longoria revealed expensive gadgets she incorporates into her skincare routine, including the TheraFace Pro, a device known for its ability to de-puff the eyes through temperature regulation. She also mentioned her use of the Facify Beauty Wand, which she uses for facial treatments. Yet, she playfully attributed her hair’s quality to her Mexican heritage, stating simply, “Well, I’m Mexican so I have great hair.”
While she dazzles at high-profile events, Longoria maintains a casual approach on school mornings, opting for “sweats or yoga pants” to drop off her six-year-old son, Santiago Enrique Bastón. Her balance of high-fashion moments and practical everyday style illustrates the duality of her celebrity life.
The insights shared by Longoria underline her relationship with both fashion and beauty, showcasing a journey that blends personal taste, learned experiences, and cherished family influences.
