In a recent interview, Eva Longoria shared humorous anecdotes from her time on ‘Desperate Housewives,’ including her fondness for co-star Teri Hatcher’s fashion sense and her own style journey.
Eva Longoria recently shared nostalgic memories from her time on the iconic TV series “Desperate Housewives,” revealing that she had a penchant for her co-star Teri Hatcher’s wardrobe. In an interview with The Sunday Times, published on February 23, Longoria, 49, humorously admitted, “I used to steal Teri Hatcher’s clothes. Gaby had crazy outfits and I didn’t want any of them.” She recounted a fond memory of going into Hatcher’s closet after filming wrapped, where she discovered a collection of cashmere sweaters that resonated more with her personal style.
“Desperate Housewives,” which aired on ABC from 2004 to 2012, captivated audiences with its mix of drama and mystery surrounding a group of women living in the fictional neighborhood of Wisteria Lane. Longoria portrayed Gabrielle “Gaby” Solis alongside Hatcher, who played Susan Meyer. The ensemble cast also included Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross, Nicollette Sheridan, Dana Delany, Vanessa Williams, and Brenda Strong.
Reflecting on her fashion journey during the show’s run, Longoria noted that she “didn’t fall in love with fashion” while playing Gaby. “They would put clothes on me and I was like, ‘Meh,’” she explained, recalling an abundance of leopard print outfits that did not align with her preference for classic and comfortable styles.
Despite the conclusion of “Desperate Housewives” over a decade ago, Longoria has maintained close relationships with several cast members. In a statement to the Daily Mail in September 2024, she mentioned, “I talk to Felicity all the time. I talk to Marcia a lot. But the one probably I talk to most is Ricardo [Antonio Chavira, who played my husband] and Jesse [Metcalfe].” Furthermore, Longoria shared that her former co-stars provided her with valuable support during her pregnancy with her son, Santiago, who is now six. Longoria remarked, “Oh my gosh, Marcia and Felicity have given me advice. We talk a lot. They’re always supportive and amazing moms,” in an exclusive interview with Us Weekly in March 2018.
Aside from her on-set fashion exploits, Longoria looks to her family and celebrities like Victoria Beckham for style inspiration. She revealed in her profile for The Times, “I admire my mom, my aunt and my sisters. I never had to look far for an example of what a woman should be.” Longoria described her aunt as “well-traveled and always wore a scarf and perfume,” highlighting her glamorous influence.
In discussing modern style influences, Longoria referred to Beckham, stating, “[She] is my style icon,” and playfully acknowledged that while she aspires to emulate Beckham’s style, she recognizes the challenge of achieving that level of fashion prowess.
