An exclusive dinner at This Humid House brings together Singapore’s creative leaders to celebrate fashion and cuisine.
On February 19, 2023, FEMALE Magazine Singapore hosted an engaging dinner event celebrating craftsmanship and creativity in collaboration with the luxury fashion house, Loewe. The function took place at the headquarters of This Humid House, a prominent botanical design studio located in Kembangan, Singapore. The dinner featured a unique culinary experience crafted by the Senang Supper Club (SSC), a dining series co-founded by This Humid House and Bryan Koh, a well-known Southeast Asian food researcher. This event marked the first time that SSC had collaborated with a brand or publication, elevating the significance of the occasion.
FEMALE Magazine brought together an exclusive group of 16 women from the creative industry, each recognized for their contributions to art, design, and gastronomy. The atmosphere was visually striking, with the entrance to This Humid House adorned in white silk, creating a serene backdrop that resonated with Loewe’s minimalist presentation of its Spring Summer 2025 collection. Jonathan Anderson, the creative director of Loewe, focused on the theme of simplicity in his collection, stating, “What happens when one takes all the noise away? Is it possible to fill an empty, white room, commanding attention, without shouting for space?”
Before the dinner began, guests were given a preview of Loewe’s latest collection, which has garnered attention for its innovative combination of historical forms and modern materials. The collection included crinoline dresses made from light silk georgette, an update on a fashion staple from the 19th century. This preview was a historic moment, as it was the first fashion presentation held at This Humid House.
The dinner itself was an aesthetically pleasing affair, featuring a table beautifully arranged with anthuriums, lotus pods, and yellow oncidiums—flowers that echoed Loewe’s artistic legacy. Guests experienced a meticulously prepared ten-course meal by Bryan Koh, which highlighted a range of regional cuisines and included dishes like saku sai moo, a Thai street food made with sago and chicken dumplings wrapped in fragrant leaves.
A surprise element of the evening was a mid-dinner game where attendees tried to guess song titles without technological assistance, adding a playful twist to the sophisticated event. The dinner aimed to foster a spirit of creativity and connection, aligning with both FEMALE Magazine’s ethos and Loewe’s commitment to craftsmanship.
Among the attendees were noted figures such as models Serena Jane McNeill and Saima Jha, food artist Gong Hua, and the founders of various creative enterprises like Tanchen Studio and Rye. The guest list exemplified a diverse array of talent within Singapore’s creative community, emphasizing a shared dedication to art and innovation.
Throughout the evening, guests mingled, enjoying both the cuisine and the company, while some took the opportunity to showcase their creative styling with Loewe accessories. This culinary and artistic gathering at This Humid House not only celebrated the legacy of Loewe but also united accomplished women from Singapore’s creative landscape for an unforgettable evening dedicated to craft, conversation, and camaraderie.
