The GTTES 2025 in Mumbai showcases technological advancements in textiles and highlights investment prospects in Chhattisgarh, emphasizing sustainability initiatives.
The Global Textile Technology and Engineering Show (GTTES 2025) is underway at the Bombay Exhibition Centre in Goregaon (East), Mumbai, featuring a range of discussions, networking opportunities, and a strong emphasis on sustainability. The event, organized by the Indian International Textile Machinery Exhibitions Society (India ITME Society), began on February 21 and is set to run through February 23, showcasing the latest technological advancements in the textile industry.
A significant component of the second day of GTTES 2025 was the Chhattisgarh State Industrial Development Corporation Ltd Investment Summit, which took place in the B2B Pavilion. The summit focused on investment and business opportunities within the textile sector, highlighting Chhattisgarh’s emergence as a key textile manufacturing hub. Key speakers included Mr. Praveen Shukla, Additional Director of the Chhattisgarh State Industrial Development Corporation Limited, and Ms. Diksha Purohit, along with Mr. Gurjeet Bhatia, both Principal Consultants with CSIDC.
Ketan Sanghvi, Chairman and member of the India ITME Society’s Steering Committee, emphasized the necessity of aligning with Chhattisgarh’s Industrial Development Policy 2024-2030, which aims to position the state prominently in textile manufacturing. Praveen Shukla discussed Chhattisgarh’s substantial textile export footprint of $35.9 billion over 24 years and its capability to supply electricity to 13 states, outlining the advantages of the state’s infrastructure and potential for growth in the textile ecosystem.
During the summit, several Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) were signed, signifying strategic partnerships aimed at fostering innovation within the textile industry. One noteworthy agreement involved the Asian Arab Chamber of Commerce, focusing on enhancing international trade and investment opportunities. Murtuza Shabbir Arsiwala, Honorary Trade Commissioner of the Asian Arab Chamber of Commerce, underlined the significance of textile trade in Asia and the Middle East during the event.
The day also spotlighted sustainability with the launch of a joint initiative named “Threads of Transformation,” organized by various entities including the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation and the Textile Committee. This initiative centered on post-consumer textile recycling, advocating for sustainable practices that support artisan cultures across India and the promotion of eco-friendly fashion.
The program culminated in a Recycled, Upcycled & Sustainable Fashion Art and Fashion Show, which featured artisans and designers who displayed innovative approaches to tackling textile waste, reinforcing the principles of circular fashion and responsible manufacturing.
The B2B Pavilion has emerged as a vibrant hub for industry networking during GTTES 2025. It has facilitated discussions on emerging trends, innovations, and future prospects within the textile sector.
As a premier platform for showcasing products and forging partnerships, GTTES 2025 continues to play a critical role in shaping the future of textile technology and engineering. The India ITME Society, established in 1980, operates as a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the textile engineering industry through various initiatives, including exhibitions, trade promotion, and educational programs. The textile industry is a vital part of India’s economy, contributing significantly to industrial production, GDP, and foreign exchange inflows. It also commands a notable share in the global textile and apparel trade, underscoring India’s position in textile innovation and commerce.
