The self-help group from Bhayandar participated in a major forum promoting resource efficiency and carbon neutrality in Jaipur, showcasing their eco-friendly products.

The Golden Dawn self-help group (SHG) from Bhayandar participated in the 12th edition of the Asia-Pacific 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) and Circular Economy Forum, which took place in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The event was held at the Rajasthan International Centre from March 3 to March 5, 2025, and focused on the theme of “Realizing Circular Societies Towards Achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and Carbon Neutrality in Asia Pacific.”

The Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation’s social welfare department supported the Golden Dawn SHG, facilitating their attendance among over 500 participants from various organizations, including other SHGs and NGOs. The forum provided a platform for showcasing initiatives that encourage the concept of turning waste into wealth.

Golden Dawn SHG showcased an array of eco-friendly and traditional products, including paper dolls, paper plates, mirror frames, woolen showpieces, handbags, Warli paintings, and wall hangings. Their products attracted noteworthy visitors, including K. H. Govinda Raj, Principal Secretary of the Urban Development Department for the Government of Maharashtra; Navnath Vath, State Campaign Director of the Swachh Maharashtra Mission; and Deputy Director Mahesh Chaudhary, all of whom visited their stall.

The forum concluded with the adoption of the “Jaipur Declaration.” This declaration aims to accelerate the transition to a resource-efficient, circular economy across Asia-Pacific countries. The United Nations Centre for Regional Development (UNCRD) has been instrumental in launching this forum, initially started in 2009, to create pathways and opportunities for achieving circular and zero waste societies in the region.
