Russell Wilson’s Good Man Brand unveils the Halo sneaker, featuring a biodegradable sole and innovative, eco-friendly materials.

Russell Wilson’s Good Man Brand has introduced the Halo sneaker, advancing its commitment to sustainable footwear. This new sneaker is characterized by its biodegradable sole, demonstrating an innovative approach to eco-friendly fashion.

Handcrafted in Europe, the Halo sneaker reinterprets the classic court sneaker while incorporating cutting-edge materials. The biodegradable sole is created through a collaboration with Balena, a material science company that specializes in biodegradable and recyclable biopolymers. This sole utilizes Balena’s BioCer Flex Technology, designed to enhance impact absorption while remaining both compostable and recyclable.

The Halo sneaker comes in two color options: black and white. The black version incorporates 42 percent grape skin leather along with stalks and seeds, while the white sneaker is made from bio-based vegan leather. These materials are selected not only for their durability but also for their reduced environmental footprint.

“Sustainability is more than a buzzword—it’s a responsibility,” said Therese Hayes, CEO and chief sustainability officer of Good Man Brand, as well as board chair of Fashion Revolution Canada. She emphasized the importance of marrying quality fashion and sustainability, stating, “The Halo sneaker is a game-changer for our brand by proving that quality fashion forward design and sustainable design can go hand in hand.”

David Roubach, founder and CEO of Balena, also expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership. “Seeing a brand like Good Man Brand—built on the highest standards of men’s style—embrace innovation in such a meaningful way is truly inspiring. Luxury isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s about thoughtfulness, quality, and longevity,” he remarked. Roubach highlighted the significance of using BioCir Flex in the sneaker’s sole, asserting that it exemplifies how premium footwear can be both beautifully designed and responsibly manufactured.

Good Man Brand is also exploring the implementation of a take-back program aimed at achieving full circularity with its sneaker offerings, further solidifying its dedication to sustainable practices.
