The AYIBOBO project, directed by Haitian designer Dave-Oliver Bijoux, is vying for the prestigious ADESIGN AWARD & COMPETITION, an international platform dedicated to showcasing innovative design talents from around the globe. The project, a brainchild of Bijoux, founder of DOB DESIGN, is not merely a footwear line; it is characterised as a beacon of creativity and determination that encapsulates Haitian excellence, as noted by Marie Mika Achille, the communication manager for the project, in an interview with Juno7.
The AYIBOBO brand will be formally introduced during the “AYIBOBO POU AYITI” event, scheduled for late March 2025, at the Karibe Hotel. This event is set to serve as a significant launch point for the collection as well as a means to galvanise the Haitian public around a national initiative exemplifying hope for the community, according to the project’s team.
The communication manager further elaborated that AYIBOBO transcends the realm of mere design, aiming instead to cultivate a movement that champions Haitian craftsmanship and galvanises the youth of Haiti. Through its participation in the international competition, AYIBOBO strategically positions Haiti within the global narrative of innovation, advocating for the abilities of Haitian designers to produce high-calibre products under the “Made in Haiti” label.
Dave-Oliver Bijoux, known for his enthusiasm in 3D design and entrepreneurship, is committed to expanding the horizons of creativity and innovation. With the AYIBOBO project, Bijoux aims to illustrate that with dedication and talent, the youth of Haiti can realise their aspirations.
