Dublin: The IFTA Awards brought together top talents from the film and television industry, with stars like Sharon Horgan, Eva Birthistle, and Saoirse Ronan captivating audiences in stylish attire. The event highlighted artistic achievements and fostered connections within the vibrant Irish entertainment scene.
The Irish Film and Television Academy (IFTA) Awards took place on Friday at the Dublin Royal Convention Centre, attracting a host of renowned talents from the entertainment industry. This glamorous occasion, which coincided with Valentine’s Day, saw notable personalities forgoing their romantic plans to honour the contributions of Irish artists in film and television over the past year.
Among the prominent figures attending the event were the creators and stars of the acclaimed series “Bad Sisters,” led by Sharon Horgan. Horgan, who is both its creator and frontwoman, walked the red carpet alongside her co-stars Eva Birthistle and Sarah Greene, highlighting their camaraderie with hand-in-hand poses. Horgan donned a fashionable black maxi dress adorned with striking high slits on either side, while Greene, known for her role as Bibi, complemented her in an all-black ensemble. Birthistle, staying true to the Valentine’s spirit, wore a fashionable figure-hugging red dress for the night.
Eva Birthistle was not only celebrating her role in “Bad Sisters” but also received a nomination for directing her film “Kathleen Is Here,” hinting at a potential future collaboration between her and Horgan behind the camera.
Another highlight of the evening was actress Nicola Coughlan, famous for her role in “Bridgerton.” Coughlan graced the red carpet in a stylish tiered black dress, characterised by its ruffles and a distinctive neckline. Her cheerful demeanor was evident as she posed for photographs at the prestigious event.
Saoirse Ronan, who recently celebrated her marriage to actor Jack Lowden, made the notable decision to attend the awards instead of spending her first Valentine’s Day as a married woman with her husband. She captivated onlookers in a stunning baby blue gown coupled with a sleek hair bun.
Victoria Smurfit, another acclaimed figure in attendance, turned heads in a strapless satin gown. Known for her role in the Disney+ series “The Rivals,” Smurfit was also highlighted as the show has been renewed for a second season.
Young actress Alisha Weir, noted for her performance in “Abigail,” also made an eye-catching appearance in a dreamy baby pink ensemble. Weir took the occasion to celebrate her achievements, which included recent interactions with high-profile talents Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo.
The star-studded event was further graced by the presence of numerous other notable figures, such as Andrew Scott, Cillian Murphy, Ruth Negga, Caitríona Balfe, Clare Dunne, and the local music group Kneecap.
With the night serving as a significant highlight in the Irish entertainment calendar, the IFTA Awards not only celebrated cinematic achievements but also provided a platform for stars to connect and showcase Irish talent on a grand stage.
