Newcastle: The MOBO Awards made history by taking place in the North East for the first time, featuring stylish appearances by hosts Indiyah Polack and Amber Gill, along with a lively lineup of performers including Krept and Konan, and music icon Shola Ama.
Indiyah Polack and Amber Gill made a striking entrance at the MOBO Awards, held at Newcastle’s Utilita Arena on Tuesday night. The event marks a significant occasion, as it is the first time in the awards’ history that the ceremony is taking place in the North East of England.
Indiyah Polack, a former contestant on the reality show Love Island, showcased her fashion sense in a unique body-shaped basque paired with a slinky black maxi skirt. This appearance marks her return as the host of the MOBO Awards for the second consecutive year, having previously debuted in this role last year in Sheffield. The 26-year-old former reality star posed enthusiastically on the red carpet ahead of the show, accentuating her ensemble with silver accessories including a bangle and drop earrings. Her long black hair was styled loosely, and she opted for bold makeup featuring heavily lined lips and dramatic eye shadow.
Amber Gill also graced the red carpet in a sophisticated outfit characterised by a cropped blazer, white shirt, and tie, which were seamlessly paired with a long black skirt, highlighting her chic style.
The hosting duties for the evening will be shared between Indiyah Polack and comedian Eddie Kadi, who rose to prominence earlier this year as a participant on Strictly Come Dancing. The MOBO Awards are being broadcast live on YouTube, with additional highlights set to air on BBC One later in the week.
A range of talented performers is scheduled to take the stage, including rap duo Krept and Konan, along with Spice and Bashy. 90s music icon Shola Ama, widely recognised for her hits such as “You Might Need Somebody” and “You’re The One I Love,” will also be part of the entertainment lineup, contributing to what promises to be an exciting night for attendees and viewers alike.
