In a recent episode, Chhail Khalsa impressed the panel with her E-textile brand Anuvad, showcasing smart textiles and future innovations in comfort and healthcare.

Shark Tank India Season 4 is currently captivating audiences on SonyLIV, showcasing innovative entrepreneurs from various sectors. In a recent episode, a standout moment featured Chhail Khalsa, a founder based in Ahmedabad, who introduced her groundbreaking E-textile brand, Anuvad. The presentation highlighted a unique musical textile, crafted by Indian artisans, underlining her commitment to blending technology with traditional textile practices.

During her pitch, Khalsa elaborated on her specialization in developing textiles that integrate technology. She showcased installations where technology is intricately woven into the fabric, creating what she termed “smart textiles.” When questioned about the criteria that define a ‘smart textile’ by Vineeta Singh, a member of the panel, Khalsa responded that any textile possessing functional properties that enhance its usability compared to conventional textiles qualifies.

Moreover, Khalsa revealed her strides in innovation, mentioning that she holds an Indian patent for the incorporation of circuits into fabric, thus making it electronic. She presented a specific application for her technology in the development of heated cushions, although her decision not to bring any physical products for demonstration raised questions among the panel of investors, referred to as ‘sharks’.

In her pursuit of funding, Khalsa sought an investment of Rs 50 lakh in exchange for a 5 percent equity stake in her company, positioning Anuvad at a valuation of Rs 10 crore. Khalsa’s vision for the future involves using her patented technology to create clothing that could assist the elderly, particularly those with memory issues, and develop heat-tech solutions through her fabric innovations.

With the integration of traditional skills and modern technology, Khalsa’s venture exemplifies the potential of E-textiles to revolutionize various sectors, including healthcare and consumer comfort.
