Jeff Staple’s new retail store, Staple 21 Mercer, set to open in SoHo, will debut a special sneaker and celebrate the vibrant culture of streetwear in NYC.

Jeff Staple, a prominent figure in streetwear and sneaker culture, is set to unveil Staple 21 Mercer, the brand’s inaugural retail store, in the SoHo district of New York City on Friday, March 14th, 2025. The opening not only marks a significant milestone for Staple but also revitalizes a well-known venue within the sneaker community. Located at 21 Mercer Street, the space previously housed NikeLab from 2008 until its closure.

Founded in 1997, Staple has carved a niche in the fashion landscape, intertwining elements of music, art, sports, and street culture. The new flagship store will feature Staple’s signature apparel and accessories alongside carefully selected products from other brands, reflecting the company’s ethos and commitment to creativity and community.

Jeff Staple is recognized for his influential contributions to the sneaker industry, most notably the design of the Nike SB Pigeon Dunk, which has left an indelible mark on sneaker history. He is also the founder of Reed Art Department, a creative agency, and has authored “Jeff Staple: Not Just Sneakers,” a book that provides insight into his extensive career spanning over 25 years.

To commemorate the store opening, Staple will debut the Brooks x Staple Adrenaline 4 GTS sneaker, which represents a collaboration with the performance-running brand Brooks. This sneaker is significant as it is the first heritage lifestyle release in Staple’s trademark gray, white, and pigeon pink color palette.

Prior to the store’s official opening, a grand celebration will take place on the evening of March 13th. This event aims to bring together members of New York City’s creative community, showcasing the vibrant culture surrounding streetwear and sneakers. Notable figures such as DJs Va$htie and DJ Shu G will provide the music, while culinary offerings come from renowned local establishments, including Chinatown’s Nom Wah Tea Parlor, Romeo’s, and Boba Guys. The festivities will be co-hosted by Bimma Williams, a marketing educator known for his work in independent collaborations, and the founder and creative director of the boutique agency Collab Lab.

The pairing of Staple’s brand launch with a community-driven event highlights both the cultural significance of streetwear and the importance of creative expression within the urban landscape of New York City.
