The Dinas Perindustrian dan Perdagangan of Yogyakarta announces Jogja Fashion Week 2025, featuring 132 designers, focusing on sustainability and innovation in fashion.
The Dinas Perindustrian dan Perdagangan (Disperindag) of Yogyakarta is set to host the Jogja Fashion Week, scheduled for August 7-10, 2025, at the Jogja Expo Center. This major event was officially launched during a press conference held on February 26, 2025, at the Ballroom Kasultanan of the Royal Ambarrukmo Hotel.
The launch event saw the attendance of Ruth Juana Samaria, the Atase Perdagangan from the Indonesian Embassy in France, among other notable attendees. As part of the festivities, the event included a fashion show featuring works from a range of designers participating in the future fashion week.
This year’s event will adopt the theme ‘Thread of Tomorrow,’ which aims to encapsulate hopes, innovations, and a spirit of sustainability in fashion. Yuna Pancawati from Disperindag DIY articulated the significance of the theme, stating, “The theme chosen is not just about fabric and design, but about how fashion can be a medium for building a more innovative, inclusive future that advocates for sustainability.”
Jogja Fashion Week 2025 will consist of a series of activities including exhibitions, educational sessions, and multiple fashion shows, serving as a platform for interaction and transactions within the fashion industry. The project aims to foster a sustainable economy among fashion stakeholders, enhancing the industry’s local dynamics.
The event will feature an impressive lineup with 10 fashion show sessions, showcasing collections from 132 fashion designers. This includes 108 professional designers, 12 emerging young designers, and 12 designers hailing from vocational schools, presenting over 1,000 new fashion creations.
Aulia Sunhandika, the Project Manager for Jogja Fashion Week, commented on the logistical aspects of the event, stating that “the exhibition area will utilize three halls at the Jogja Expo Center, a strategically selected venue that is one of the largest buildings in Indonesia.”
The combination of established and emerging designers aims to elevate the local fashion scene, drawing attention to innovative practices and aesthetic trends that align with global standards in fashion.
