American actress Kelly Rutherford captivated audiences at Milan Fashion Week while honoring her late ‘Gossip Girl’ co-star Michelle Trachtenberg, who recently passed away.

American actress Kelly Rutherford attended the Roberto Cavalli Womenswear Fall/Winter 2025/2026 show at Milan Fashion Week on Thursday, showcasing a striking fashion statement with her black satin suit. The event, held in Italy’s fashion capital, drew various celebrities and fashion enthusiasts.

Rutherford, 56, was notably chic in a three-piece ensemble featuring a tailcoat-style blazer, a fitted waistcoat, and tapered trousers adorned with a zebra stripe pattern. She emphasized her look with elegant white stiletto heels and complemented her outfit with a grey snake print handbag embellished with diamante tiger brooches. Her effortless style resonated with the sophisticated ambiance of Milan Fashion Week.

Among the other attendees was American singer Victoria Monet, who garnered attention in a dramatic one-shouldered black velvet gown. Monet’s attire featured a daring cut-out design across the bust, hugging her figure and adding to the event’s glamorous atmosphere.

Notably, Rutherford’s appearance came shortly after she shared a heartfelt tribute to her former “Gossip Girl” co-star Michelle Trachtenberg, who passed away at the age of 39. Hours before the show, Rutherford took to Instagram to honor Trachtenberg, sharing a quote from Vex King: “If today feels heavy, carry it lightly. If it feels empty, fill it with the smallest comforts. You don’t have to fix today. You just have to move through it.” She also posted a nostalgic image of Trachtenberg in her role as Georgina Sparks from the series, captioned with a heart emoji.

Details on Trachtenberg’s passing remain unclear, though sources indicate she died of natural causes following a recent liver transplant. According to law enforcement, her mother discovered Trachtenberg’s body in her apartment in New York City, and the NYPD confirmed that an autopsy is pending to determine the exact cause of death. The police statement emphasized that criminality is not suspected, with an ongoing investigation to gather all relevant details.

Trachtenberg’s acting journey began early when she made her debut as a child actress on Nickelodeon’s “The Adventures of Pete & Pete” at the age of three, later earning acclaim for her roles in “Harriet the Spy” and “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” At the time of her passing, she was reportedly in talks to participate in a highly anticipated reboot, further solidifying her legacy in the entertainment industry.

Rutherford’s tribute coincided with a wave of condolences from fellow “Gossip Girl” cast members, including Blake Lively, who described Trachtenberg as “fiercely loyal,” “kind,” and “deeply sensitive.” This outpouring of support underscores the impact Trachtenberg had on her peers and the broader fan community.
