The 42-year-old actor, who shares a daughter and a son with his wife, Jazz Charlton, showcased a custom Zegna tuxedo that was accentuated by a distinctive platinum brooch by Kwiat and Fred Leighton. The brooch featured three stones, namely a pear-shaped Colombian emerald, a cushion-cut natural purple sapphire, and a square-cut peridot, each representing a member of Culkin’s immediate family.
His stylist, Chloe Hartstein, spoke to the Hollywood Reporter about the personal significance behind the accessory. “For Kieran, his whole world is his family; they’re the centre of his universe,” Hartstein explained. The inspiration for the brooch was derived from the birthstones of Culkin’s wife and children, meticulously set in what is described as a beautiful jabot pin designed to appear as if the stones are floating on his lapel.
Hartstein further elaborated on Culkin’s reality, noting the importance of including a symbol of family during such a significant event. “Kieran’s reality is his everyday life with his wife and kids, so we just wanted to be thoughtful and have that symbol of reality for him amid this incredible moment,” she stated.
Rebecca Selva, the chief creative officer of Kwiat and Fred Leighton, added context to the design approach, highlighting its classic elegance intertwined with an Art Deco inspiration. “It’s a classic design that’s really meant to highlight the gemstones. There’s also an Art Deco, 1920s inspiration… and it’s once again having a moment,” Selva detailed, emphasizing their intent to create a piece that resonates with Culkin’s essence while fitting the occasion.
Culkin won the award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his performance in ‘A Real Pain’, which served as a focal point of the night. To complement his award-winning moment, Hartstein shared insights on visual presentation for the red carpet, aiming for a look that exuded “easy and effortless.” She noted, “Kieran can be a colourful guy, which sometimes can be tough with men’s suiting,” indicating a strategic choice for a monochromatic aesthetic to enhance his overall appearance.
