Los Angeles: In a recent episode of Hulu’s ‘The Kardashians,’ Kim Kardashian opens up about the struggles of wearing a restrictive corset to the 2024 Met Gala, describing the severe discomfort it caused and her commitment to the glamour of high fashion despite the physical toll.
In a recent episode of Hulu’s “The Kardashians,” Kim Kardashian discussed her experience wearing a highly restrictive corset at the 2024 Met Gala, shedding light on the discomfort that often accompanies high fashion. The event, which took place in May, was themed “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.” The 44-year-old reality star opted for a striking silver brocade corset designed by John Galliano for Maison Margiela, paired with a uniquely crafted skirt made from tooled silver metal, featuring intricate patterns of flowers, leaves, pearls, mirror fragments, and crystals.
During the episode, which aired on February 13, Kardashian was initially optimistic about her outfit, stating, “I’m not as uncomfortable as I might look.” She described the corset as a “performance piece” and likened the challenge of wearing it to the daily attire of the cast of “Bridgerton,” expressing admiration for their ability to manage such garments regularly.
However, this sentiment quickly shifted post-event. While in a limousine with her friend La La Anthony, Kardashian began to feel increasingly uneasy. When Anthony struggled to help her remove the constricting dress, Kardashian revealed that she felt she was “literally going to throw up.” In a confessional, she disclosed her claustrophobia, admitting, “I’ve never felt this way before, where I feel like I can’t breathe.” She elaborated on her discomfort, stating, “It’s like I can handle it for so long, but I have to pee, I can’t breathe, I can’t get this off. I was like, I’m going to die if you don’t get this off of me right now.”
Kardashian later confirmed the extent of her discomfort, describing the experience as “the most uncomfortable” she had ever felt. After finally managing to undo the corset, she discovered deep indentations and bruises on her back, a visible reminder of the constraints imposed by her attire.
Despite these challenges, Kardashian affirmed that the effort was “abso-f—king-lutely” worth it, emphasizing her belief that the visual appeal of high fashion makes such experiences worthwhile. “That’s just who I am,” she remarked in her confessional, underscoring her commitment to maintaining a glamorous image, even at personal cost.
