Levi Strauss & Co. is set to release a revival of its iconic Lot 201 jeans and Lot 213 jacket, paying homage to 1920s denim culture.
Levi Strauss & Co. has made a significant announcement that vintage denim enthusiasts are sure to appreciate. The company is set to release a revival of its historic Lot 201 jeans and Lot 213 jacket, both originally crafted in the 1920s. This new offering by Levi’s® Vintage Clothing (LVC) pays homage to the legacy of the iconic 501® pants that have become synonymous with denim culture.
The Lot 201 jeans, first introduced in the early 1890s as a budget-friendly alternative to the 501®, offered quality denim for working individuals who preferred a more economical option. Known as “No. 2,” the jeans featured cost-effective modifications such as a cloth “Two Horse” patch instead of the more premium leather patch typical of higher-end models. While production of the Lot 201 ceased around World War II, its significance remains, reflecting Levi’s commitment to providing durable clothing to people of varying economic backgrounds.
The new LVC 1920s Lot 201 Jean is designed to replicate the relaxed fit characteristic of that time. Key features include black branded donut buttons, a cinch buckle, and exposed copper rivets, all crafted from Japanese Shrink-To-Fit™ selvedge denim with a unique blue line, distinguishing it from the classic red line. Each pair is made in Japan, emphasizing adherence to historical craftsmanship and quality, with only 800 hand-numbered pieces available globally.
In addition to the jeans, the LVC team is also reintroducing the Lot 213 jacket, which served as the 1920s counterpart to the Type 1 jacket. The jacket mirrors its original design with similar materials, including the Japanese Shrink-To-Fit™ blue line selvedge denim, the cloth “Two Horse” patch, and black branded donut buttons. Like the jeans, the jacket incorporates other period-correct details such as a cinch and copper rivets to create an authentic representation of workwear from the Roaring Twenties.
Paul O’Neill, the Design Director of Levi’s® Vintage Clothing, commented on the revival, stating, “The Lot 201 and Lot 213 provide a fascinating and often-overlooked glimpse into our history, showing how we have always considered our customers by offering quality products at all price points.”
The limited-edition Lot 201 Jean and Lot 213 Jacket will be available for purchase starting March 27th, priced at $495 each. The items will be sold on Levi.com, as well as through select Levi’s® stores and wholesale partners in Europe and Asia, further expanding the accessibility of this heritage collection for contemporary consumers.
