The former Oasis frontman unveils his second shoe collaboration with Clarks, blending classic style with modern aesthetics.
Liam Gallagher, the renowned English rock star and former frontman of the iconic band Oasis, is set to launch his second collaboration with the well-established British footwear brand Clarks. The new shoe, a reinterpretation of the Clarks Desert Rain, will officially be released on March 20, 2024. This announcement follows the success of their first collaboration in 2022, which quickly sold out due to high demand.
Gallagher’s long-standing relationship with Clarks dates back to his childhood. Speaking to Footwear News, the musician expressed his loyalty to the brand, stating, “I wore Clarks all the way through the ’90s… I don’t think there is any other [shoe] brand for me, really… I find it hard to even look at other brands… Clarks have never let me down.” His dedication to the brand was further highlighted in the documentary “Somerset to the World: Clarks 200,” directed by Set Free Richardson, which celebrated Clarks’ 200 years of history.
The upcoming LG Desert Rain shoe melds Clarks’ heritage with Gallagher’s distinct style. The design includes a pebble crepe outsole and a jumbo cotton cord upper made from tonal suede. Additionally, Gallagher’s branding adorns the heel, while a double-sided suede fob showcases both Clarks Originals branding and Gallagher’s silhouette. Leather lining and tonal laces further enhance the shoe’s aesthetic.
The release of the LG Desert Rain is priced at $160. However, fans in England will have an exclusive chance to purchase the shoe a day earlier, on March 19, at Clarks Originals stores located in Berwick Street, London, and Kings Street, Manchester.
Gallagher’s admiration for Clarks extends beyond nostalgia; he considers the brand’s shoes to embody sophistication, comparing them to “a Bentley or an old Rolls-Royce—classic.” His previous collaboration with Clarks, the LG Rambler, arose from Gallagher’s encouragement for the brand to revive the discontinued style, showcasing his influence on the designs. While Gallagher has ventured into collaborations with other brands, such as Adidas, his affinity for Clarks remains evident.
As Clarks commemorates its significant milestone, Gallagher is concurrently preparing for a reunion tour with Oasis, marking an exciting time for both the artist and the brand. He emphasized his love for the new design by declaring, “My favorite Clarks shoes are the ones that are on my feet, Desert Rain.” He added, “I know when I put on Clarks. Like when I put these [Clarks Desert Rain] on today, I feel proper.”
