Lisbon: The 64th Lisboa Fashion Week from March 6 to 9, 2025, will delve into the various aspects of ‘capital’, highlighting sustainability, art, and creativity through fashion shows, workshops, and discussions aimed at redefining cultural and social responsibilities within the industry.

The 64th Lisboa Fashion Week is set to unfold from March 6 to 9, 2025, under the theme MODALISBOA CAPITAL, co-organised by Lisbon City Council. This edition delves into the multifaceted concept of “capital,” examining its various forms—geographic, creative, cultural, social, economic, and human. The event aims to not only probe the definition of a capital city but also to investigate the broader implications of capital in shaping identity, fostering creativity, and nurturing community spirit.

The visual identity of MODALISBOA CAPITAL has been crafted by the Graficalismo studio, which intends to encapsulate these different aspects of capital through a compelling campaign. Over the upcoming month, Lisbon Fashion Week plans to unveil six characters or alter-egos across its social media platforms. Each of these figures will represent a unique type of capital, constructed from repurposed clothing and textiles. This initiative aims to intertwine the often contrasting themes of fast fashion and sustainability, employing a post-internet visual aesthetic to provoke thought and discussion.

Among the key highlights of the event is the focus on creative capital, as demonstrated through a series of fashion shows taking place at Pátio da Galé between March 7 and 9. This segment will feature the final phase of the Sangue Novo competition, which is backed by Seaside, as well as fresh collections from emerging designers in the Workstation and LAB categories, alongside established fashion houses.

Cultural capital will also be prominently showcased during this fashion week. On March 7, MODALISBOA CAPITAL will initiate activities at the Gulbenkian Modern Art Center (CAM), contemplating the historical interplay between fashion and art. The festivities will effortlessly extend to MUDE – Museum of Design, which will serve as a venue for workshops, Fast Talks, and Fashion Presentations, creating a nexus among design, heritage, and community.

In a period marked by heightened awareness around sustainability, the social capital theme will spotlight the fashion industry’s responsibilities, technological advancements, and digital transformation. Key industry figures, including representatives from APICCAPS and CENIT/ANIVEC, are set to engage in discussions centred on these pressing issues.

Through this exploration, Lisboa Fashion Week poses the pivotal question: What is CAPITAL? The event seeks to provide answers that reflect the potential of capital to unite people, spark inspiration, and challenge the status quo in the ever-evolving landscape of fashion and beyond.
