Bay Village: Denise Betz-Toil has fulfilled her dream of business ownership with the launch of Local Revue Consignment, featuring online sales and a physical store. She plans to host ‘sip and shop’ events, promoting a personalised shopping experience for small groups of women.
Bay Village resident Denise Betz-Toil has turned her long-held ambition of owning a business into a reality with the launch of Local Revue Consignment, located within the Bay Salon Suites at 27310 West Oviatt Road. Betz-Toil, who previously spent 12 years as a human resources manager—including a decade at Ernst and Young—has been a stay-at-home mother for the past 17 years. With her children now at significant stages in their education, she decided to pursue her dream.
Speaking in an email, Betz-Toil noted her previous experience in retail during her high school and college years, as well as her two-year stint working at another consignment store. “I have always wanted to have my own business,” she explained, drawing inspiration from her parents, who were self-employed.
Local Revue Consignment focuses primarily on online sales while also providing a physical shopping experience. The store currently collaborates with over 20 consignors, offering an array of items including blouses, dresses, shorts, coats, pants, and accessories. Betz-Toil emphasised the aesthetic of her shop, stating, “My shop is a bit more upscale looking, clean, organized, and inviting,” indicating that all inventory will be accessible online.
Future plans for the business include hosting ‘sip and shop’ gatherings for small groups of women, where friends can select items they wish to try on. Betz-Toil described the concept: “It would be where four to six friends can go online and find 10 items each that they would like to see and try on.” She aims to provide a sociable and personalised shopping experience, allowing guests to bring wine and appetizers along with them for a shopping party atmosphere.
Local Revue Consignment operates on a schedule of Tuesday afternoons from 1 to 5:30 p.m., Thursday mornings from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., alternating Friday afternoons, and Saturday mornings from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For further details, individuals can visit LocalRevue.com.
